I'm sure this sounds like a broken record because others have asked the same question. How do points work? I was told that posting videos gave us more points. So, today I posted six or more videos. I also commented on quite a few posts and videos. I started the day with 7,808 points at 10:14 and now 8:00, I have 7,866. That's 56 points, right? Does that sound right?
Maybe I'm just clueless. Also, I won some kind of contest and was told 500 points had been added to my points but I haven't seen them. I'm not saying they aren't there but I write down the number or points each night and so far can't come up with where they landed.
Another question - I have several groups and I thought that each time someone posted in the groups that meant points for me. Is that correct? Ok well, thanks for bringing me up to speed. Please give me advice on how I can increase my points or am I doing as well as I can? Salud

you earn points by viewing, commenting and others viewing and commenting on your posts.
my points very depending how active i am per day, usually between 100 to 150 a day:)
I have given you 10 points. That's the best I can do for you, dear friend.
I was hoping to view some of your videos a bit later. I have quite the backlog.
Kenn - I think you cash them out - I need to figure it all out - mine are to have bayou cats spayed - I rescued many after the hurricanes...you know me always doing something. Thanks Kimberly
Thank you Dnbuster I did all that and they said they were added...- good to know folks can get 100 or more a day! wow. Salud
Then, I went and just viewed and rated one picture. One point was all I got.
Then, I viewed/rated/commented on 4 photos...and someone left me a comment--that got me 5 points.
So, in my unscientific research, you get 1 point for viewing and 1 point for being viewed.
I also suspect that the reward may change with the advertising revenue.
Also I've noticed that video view points sometimes take a half day-day to credit, at least for me.
The point factoring changes all the time, but I've found that if I view, rate and comment, I accrue points faster than if I just view or just view and rate. It works the same way in reverse too. The amount is minute, but when you factor it by the whole day, it works out to several more points.
Of course some content I only view and rate matter what cause it simply doesn't apply to me, but I try to also comment where I can since it does seem to make a difference.
just posting things doesn't get you points. . . . It's the number of VIEWS that your content gets.
The more people viewing your content, the more points.
As I understand it, points are based on page views.
So the more things you view in a day, the more you'll see your points grow.
If you feel like leaving a comment, then of course leave a comment, but the comments
aren't what generate points. It's about the page views.
So view as many things as you can each day and watch your points growing.
Of course, post things so others have new things to view, too.
Their viewing of your content gives them AND you both points.
Well, that's what I understand anyway.
:-)
Have a great gather day!!!!!!!!!!
I'm sure glad you asked Mariana. I think I'll take Rob's and Queen Susan's advice and track my points for a few days and do more viewing.
My biggest problem is that I really enjoy reading the posts and I get caught up in the comments and here I am fifteen minutes later or maybe even half an hour and all I looked at was one post! LOL
...and never mind all those lovely photos.
I don't get to visit Gather very often, and the points don't make any sense to me.
I'd take the advice of the folks who are getting lots of points.
