The house behind ours was sold a couple of years ago when the owners decided to relocate. A landlord purchased the house then rented it to some questionable tenants. Thankfully, they left and now we have new neighbors.
Their daughter is in the same class as my daughter, so everyone quickly became friends. After hubby took her father fishing, he offered to help with our garden. He loaned a rototiller to my hubby and what a difference!
Originally, my vegetable garden was going to be in my outdoor room which has a greenhouse area. I was unsure about that because that's also our hot tub room. I felt the chlorine in the air might compromise the plants we wanted to eat.
I cleaned out a bunch of pots anyway because I really wanted my veggies this year. Now that I'm eating healthy, it would be great to grow my own goodies.
We have thick sod in our yard and didn't want to turn it by hand (major work). Thanks to the neighbor, I finally have my dream - a real, turned over section of soft, welcoming dirt just waiting for seeds.
Tomorrow we'll add the topsoil and water then the seeds. My son loved working on the patch of land. He raked, smoothed the dirt, created rows and even drew a "blueprint" of where the plants will go. Everyone can't wait to have our own little field of dreams ;)
I'll still use the pots to plant some herbs and flowers in the greenhouse, which will also be a more atmospheric in that room.
Isn't it great to have nice neighbors?

Some of our neighbors are nice, some are not
It's been empty since last summer and we're enjoying the quiet but he just told us he has to rent it because he's broke. Here's hoping we have a good one again!
Sounds like you've been blessed!
Our next neighbors were obnoxious and fought all the time, but at least they didn't live there long. The neighbors now, we haven't really talked to yet. They just moved in earlier this month.
So happy for you =)
We try to take them something nice to eat every so often and we take care of their plants and yard when they go on vacation. It's nice to have a safe nieghborhood with caring people that our kids can grow up in. I know some people are not so lucky.
I was planning on planting somethings myself but I was told that now is too late.
I dont know. I have never planted anything.
