WE HAVE BEEN CELEBRATING DONALD'S BIRTHDAY SINCE WEDNESDAY. SO I HAVE BEEN VERY BUSY. WE HAD GREAT WEATHER, SO HE WORKED ON THE NEW WASHROOM.

YES I HAVE PICTURES BUT HAVENT BEEN ABLE TO GET THEM UP YET. ONLY TWO SIDES ARE COMPLETE. TWO MORE TO GO.

SO NOW I CAN GET BACK TO WORK. THANKS TO ALL THAT KEPT COMING IN AND TALKING TO ME, WHAT LITTLE TIME I HAD.

EVERYONE KEPT THE COFFEE MADE AND THE CAFE STOCKED FOR ME. THANKS MY FRIENDS. YOU ARE ALL SPECIAL TO ME

Sorry folks, We finally got that bad weather my friend Lynn was asking me about. Since it does not take much to lose our power. While it was still daylight. I took a little nap. Was sleeping very good until the sattelite went out. I gues since Donald has the TV on most of the time. I guess the quiet woke me up.

Norma, saw this in the feed. Almost missed it. I do hope the worst of the weather is over for you and Elaine and everybody in that area by now. Ours hasn't made it here yet. I am hoping it passes us by.

Things have been crazy here at my house! Felt terrible yesterday with a fierce migraine and depression. I am better today though! Chloe has to be at the dentist about 30 mi away from here so I pick her up at school at noon.
It's been rainy and very wet here in MI the last few days. The farmers won't be getting out in their fields for a while. It's almost planting season here.

Hi everyone, just getting back from the doctor today. Oh boy do I feel ready for a nap. It takes time to get ready to go and everything loaded, A shower is in order, press some clothes. etc; but when do I do this with the phone ringing and the door knocking? Goodness will I be there on time. Okay those rains all day yesterday have covered the roads in places , pretty bad. I can still get through, but what about tonight when we come in, I am thinking.

The water was not much worse than when we went out. I was late to the doctor of course with everything else the Butane man came to deliver. I just called this morning. Any other time it would be a week before he came. Oh well, this is how all my Doctor days go.
Could it have anything to do with my blood pressure staying up. Purly stress?????

Norma, hope the worst of the weather is over for you. It hasn't made it here yet. We did get the slightest 5 minute sprinkle and that has been it. I will water tomorrow if it doesn't rain sometime tonight.

Hope you can get on some tomorrow. Think I will be able to since the garden is planted. I am about to drive myself nuts wanting a piece of coconut cake, and wonder why? WHY? May have to break down and bake one tomorrow.

Glad to know you are okay and the weather didn't mess up everything.

I worked Mon-Saturday last week. I could have worked Sunday too but decided not to. I'm hoping to get the rest of my work done tomorrow for this week by getting up early again. Maybe then I can take F-Sun off. I might be able to spend Firday giving the house a good cleaning so I can spend all day Saturday writing, assuming my muse won't be hiding again.

Hi Norma, is it still the 29th, just got on the computer again, wow, feel like I have been on a desert island, How are you doing down there, hear the weather is bad and that flu thing is all over the TV, just what we all need, something else to make us sick, Mark is coming right after work, he just left now, we had supper and then he put my printer back on so I can scan etc., and print him a letter he needs, and I forgot to do it, s...t. Well too late now, tomorrow is his last day of work and then I will be helping him pack up as he moves on next Saturday May 9, boy he hasn't done a thing, we did this all last year, am doing away with my dining room which I will miss to give him a place for his bed and desk and computer, and until billy leaves home, I guess we will all have to try and get along, nothing like having a 58 year old kid come home, lol. Well, we will survive I think, if he lets me have my way, ha ha. Take care Norma, so excited at being able to type and not have the thing shut down again, better hold my breath, love you, Elsie

Elsie, glad to see you back on at least for a little bit. The good side to Mark moving in is there will be 2 people on hand to work on the computer for you. That helps since they might be coming and going. I got a shiver about you mentioning a 58 year old kid coming home. At this point, if my husband were to lose his job, I am very afraid we would be "going home" to Moses' parents. They are in their 80's. I do not relish the idea. I like the solitude of being here by myself most of the time. At least you are his mother.

Hi Norma, it was good to speak with you last night. Now I am getting ready to go back outside. Still some clean up work and what not to do. The rain still hasn't come, although it seems to be around us. So I'll be tied up again today. And then there is housework from not doing any all this week. Oh boy. Maybe next week will be an easy week. It sure wasn't this week. But the pay off is already visible. The garden vegetables are growing. The beds are done with flowers. The mulch is down, and the back porch is almost cleaned up. That's a lot. The roses are blooming and the spirea is full of flowers. What more could I ask.

Yay! I managed to get all of my work done for this week so tomorrow I'll be able to spend the day cleaning up the mess the workmen left behind. I hope that will leave me Saturday free to write if my muse will cooperate with me. Sunday, I'll be busy working on Russ' projects all day.

Norma, that's the biggest frustration with Gather that I have, not being able to get around to everywhere I want to go and read it all. Seems like when a few people put really good articles up a whole lot of people follow.

We may actually be getting some rain. We are under a severe thunderstorm watch until 11pm tonight. So far it has just been a light, gentle rain. Maybe 10 minutes. I hope it keeps up for a while. Earlier today we had a less than a minute rain.

Marge, good for you. I need a week just for housework alone now. When we plant the garden, you can follow the dirt/mud trail through the kitchen/breakfast room into the hall and the bathroom. I'll be swiping muddy spots for a good while tomorrow.

It was cool enough today to open the windows and let the house air out during the day. That's always a big deal to me. I don't think Moses cares one way or another.

Heard from Sheila or Wilma? We're all so out of pocket not. It is very hard to keep up.

Norma, tonight we had succotash for supper. I always did love that. Bet you know what that is, don't you.

My brother came into town. We had a nice visit this afternoon. This is the 2nd time I've been able to see him since my father died in 2000. We still look a lot alike.

Sheila, succotash is simply lima beans with corn mixed in and a little butter. The flavors meld together very nicely. People who do not like lima beans may not like this though. My brothers and sister and I were all major vegetable eaters growing up, and this was one of our favorite dishes. The trick is to put the corn in for long enough for the flavors to mix. I am no real cook. Last night I cooked the lima beans, leaving them a bit firm rather than mush, and added the corn and let it sit on the stove a few minutes with a pat of butter. Next time I'll put some Molly McButter or whatever those other butter flavor spice things are.

Hi, Norma. LOL. I came by to say good morning and saw Sheila's comment and started thinking breakfast or lunch. So good morning. Hope you are doing well this morning. What's your weather like? Did your kitties come back yet?

We have a confirmed case of Swine Flu in Collierville, which is a city right at the edge of Germantown and Memphis. The population has moved to the east so much that really there is no separation between Collierville and here. It's about 20 minutes away from our house. They closed the school, and there are three other schools closed to the north of us in that county, due to suspected cases, but not yet confirmed. At least the news said this morning this seems to be predominately milder cases of the flu. And they are trying to act like Joe Biden said something wrong. All it is is the airlines and travel industry want people to keep traveling. I wouldn't get in a confined area either right now. He was just using and stating good common sense. This irks me. If the flu can be contained by a few days of precaution, then why not. Maybe we could learn how to better minimize the flu during the winter months instead of people getting it on and on and on. Perhaps I think about this more being in the high risk category.

Well, I'm off now. Going to go eat and get to the housework that hasn't been tended to this week. See you later. Hope you have an excellent day.

Hi Norma; just dropping by to say hello to you and what is on everyone's mind.

It's been apointment after apointment here, with a Senior grad in the house he keeps me pretty busy getting all the college papers in and taking him for testing and getting summer classes. Then there is my better half getting ready for surgery that should have been done a few years ago; now he is in pain so he has no choice. Then there is my daughter who is getting to be a real teen handful at times ... its all about attitude. lol ... sigh.

I have some testing I have to do and appointments. I just found out last week I have diabetes and am struggling with that; it's so confusing.

I am just waiting for what is next, I'll take in one step at a time.

Lynn I had never eaten succotash, only heard of it in cartoons. "Holy Succotash." Never realized there was such a real thing. I am not one for mixing foods. I like each veggie in its proper place on the plate. LOL Even with beans and rice. Donald likes it mixed, I like each in its place on the plate. I do like gravy on anything. Even a piece of sandwich bread.

Norma, this is plain shocking to me that you'd never eaten succotash or knew it was a real dish. My goodness! I had a friend in high school who came for supper one night and picked out the corn in her serving, eating the corn and leaving the lima beans. Henrietta, the woman who raised us, used to tell us it all goes down the same way when someone would fuss the food got mixed. I guess I took her word for it and ate regardless of how the food was settled on my plate.
succotash sounds wonderful, I'm a lima bean lover and would jump right on a mix of them and corn. I'll be trying me some succotash soon. In fact I had me some Butter Beans and corn bread last night, which is a close relative to lima beans

Katherine, I know butter beans. I didn't realize butter beans were different from limas. No wonder the texture is somewhat different. I thought it was in the cooking, didn't know they were different beans. Oh well. So much to learn about food. Oh boy. For a piece of corn bread right now. Do you ever eat fried corn bread? I love that too.

Palmer, butter beans do sound good. I'm going to have to get both now to see exactly how they differ.

Norma, we finally are having a real rain day. The rain buckets outside have about 4 inches of rain in them. The rain so far has been gentle so the plants aren't being beat down. From the news I take it this is not the case in the surrounding areas. Hail has been reported just north of us. So glad we didn't get it. It will be nice to spend the weekend inside. I'm looking forward to it, and have already scrubbed the kitchen and some cookie sheets. Much to do now in the kitchen. Mostly getting the baseboards and the mud off the floor. What have you got scheduled for the weekend? Just heard thunder. This looks and sounds like good sleeping weather.

Marge, I'm wearing a fleece hooded jacket. It's 60 outside and raining and there's a good wind, nothing to knock over anything, but to keep the air circulated. And the windows are open, so it feels nippy. Seems strange to be cold though, doesn't it.
