You would think with the recent controversy surrounding her response on the Miss USA pageant, that Miss California, Carrie Prejean, might be a little more careful about choosing her words. However, that doesn't seem to be the case.
Today, Rex Wockner reports [Blog] That Miss Prejean believes that being gay is simply a lifestyle choice:
Wockner: ... some people are born gay, maybe, you think?
Carrie: No, I don't think so... I think it's a behavior that develops over time.
Rex goes on to point out that it would be pretty illogical for someone to choose to be gay and therefore be subject to the discrimination that accompanies that 'choice.' He didn't note that the AMA and APA have resolved this issue decades ago. I guess Miss Prejean knows more than those pesky medical professions, after all - it's in her bible.
With all the controversy surrounding her on this issue, you would think that Miss Prejean would learn to be a more respectful and diplomatic, but she seems to be emboldened and going the other way.
I think this might finally be the comment that pushes things over the edge and gets her removed from finishing her time as Miss California. Saying being gay is a choice in spite of all the medical and psychiatric information that says otherwise is clearly disrespectful of GLBT people and is going beyond her roles and responsibilities.
Additionally, World Magazine reports [link] that when asked “What would you tell Perez Hilton right now?”, Prejean replied: “I’d tell him he needs Jesus.”

Just my opinion.
When you see next see Carrie at Bible study, ask her when she chose to be straight.
Disrespect her bible all you want, those who want to "hate" and bring scorn down on your article obviously ignore the scientific research that proves homosexuality is not a choice.
Rex: Why would someone choose it, given that if you choose that, you get discriminated against?
Carrie: Um, because obviously Perez Hilton doesn't think that there's anything wrong with it.
Rex: No, but if being gay is a choice, rather than something you're born with, why would you choose something that's going to lead to your being discriminated against? What would be the motivation?
Carrie: I'm not sure what the motivation would be.
Rex: OK. Me either.
Am I correct that the California pageant people paid to give Prejean a boob job? It seems odd to me that such a Bible thumper as her would be willing to upgrade the boobs that God gave her, just in order to win a little cash. It seems a little presumptuous to me that she would even do a boob job at all, doesn't that seem a bit "ungodly"??
