Yesterday I received my second $25 Target gift card from Gather, and they were seriously burning up in my pocket. I had a $5 off a $50 apparel purchase, and I was ready for some frugal clothes shopping.
My husband works all over two different counties these day, and today he had to go down to Miami to do some work, and then up to Fort Lauderdale afterwards. This meant that there was no ride for us to the store, so instead I decided to be independent and take the bus.
I only had a $20 bill, so I had to break it, as there is no change given on the bus. Of course I saw this as a perfect opportunity to do some more shopping. I headed for the thrift store, where I had seen the cutest little baby outfit, and I was hoping it was still there, and that it was on sale today. I was in luck, as I found it within a few minutes. The regular price was $3, and it was %50 off, so I got it for $1.50.
I have the feeling this size newborn sailor suit, might end up being our baby E's going home outfit.

Since I already have two boys, I am very fortunate to have loads of boys clothes. However, my oldest son was born in September in New Jersey, and my youngest son was born in Denmark in March. This means that most of the infant clothes is winter clothes, and since our baby boy number three is due in mid July he will need summer clothes only.
At the thrift store I also found a simple white baby (3 months) t shirt on sale for 50 cents. Both pieces from the thrift store was in like new condition.

After the thriftstore we headed over to Roshane's school, and from there we took the bus to the shopping plaza downtown.
Equipped with gift cards and coupon, I knew what I was looking for, and I also knew I could not take too long, since I had both boys with me. First I went to the women's clearance section. There is no use in looking for clothes for me as I am 27 weeks pregnant, but I was looking for a bikini top to go with my beach outfit as I no longer fit into my bathing suit.
I found a Mossimo bikini top in blue, white and brown that matched the rest of my outfit, and while the regular price was $17.99, I only paid $4.48 for it. This was the most frugal buy of the day.
I then headed to the baby section, but I was disappointed in the clearance section. I have had my eye on a couple of cute summer outfits though, and I decided to shell out the full price, as I know it will not go on clearance until the end of the summer.

After finding what I wanted in the baby section, I headed for the big boys section as Roshane has outgrown my shopping habits. He seems to have jumped from a size 5-6 to an 8, because he has grown so tall. I did not find anything I liked in the clearance section, and just like in the baby section the clearance prices seemed to be just as much as the regular prices.
He got two outfits and a polo shirt from school.

This is what I bought at Target:
Bikini top reg. price $17.99, on sale for $4.48 (saved $13.50)
Baby pants reg. price $3.99 on sale for $1.98 (saved $2.01)
Baby shorts reg. price $4 on sale for $2.80 (saved $1.20)
Baby socks reg. price $1.49 on sale for $1.04 (saved $.45)
Green baby one-piece outfit reg. price $6.99
Summer baby one-piece outfit reg. price $5.99
School uniform polo shirt reg. price $6.99
Dark blue boys tank top reg. price $3.99
Red boys tank top reg. price $3.99
Navy boy shorts reg. price $5.99
Red boy shorts reg. price $5.99
Subtotal $53.42
- $5 coupon
Total after taxes $48.42
Total savings ($17.16 + $5 = $22.16)
I paid with my two Target gift cards from Gather, so my out of pocket cost was $0.
Thank you Team Gather and thank you Gather friends for helping me make this happen.
After Target we headed for the grocery store, as we were completely out of fruits and some of the basic essentials. I paid $20.46 and saved $14.62 with coupons and sales.
When we got out of Publix, we had to put everything on the umbrella stroller, and it sure looked like we had a full load.

At this point it was past 5 p.m., and we went to get dinner at Quiznos. I had a coupon, so even dinner was the frugal kind. We called my husband, who was finally in the area, and then we brought our sandwiches home, so that we could save on the drinks.
Below you see the boys coloring and writing in Quiznos while waiting for their dad. With almost 90 degrees outside, we decided to stay in the nice air conditioned store.

Have you done any frugal shopping lately?
What is your favorite store to shop for clothes?

There's an avenue near where I work where women's clothing can be 2 or 3 items for $10. I bought a great white blouse for $2 once.
You did VERY well.
Misty that is some awesome deals you found. No Southpole at Target.
Lisa, I too love Old Navy. My oldest son went to pre k right next to the Pembroke Lakes mall, so I used to be able to go browsing often. Old Navy is now out of the way for me, so I never get to browse. I try only to buy sleeveless shirts for my boys, because of the heat down here, and of course sandals are a basic necessity as well:)
I do not have any need to buy anything for Skyler either, as he has so much nice clothes from Roshane. I used to buy lots of stuff on clearance at H & M, and their clothes is really high quality, so it hardly looks worn. Unfortunately there is no H & M in Florida.
Tammy, that's exactly what I did, I only bought the basics, and since he uses a school uniform I have been able to find several uniform pants and shorts at the thrift store.
Connie, I buy a lot of stuff at the thrift store, but finding clothes for my oldest is more difficult as it is usually more worn. Sometimes I come across a great name brand buy for him though, and I will buy it even if it is a couple of sizes too big.
Carolyn, my favorites are Target and JCP. I got a 10 dollar off 25 coupon in the mail yesterday, and now I am just waiting for my $10 JCP gift card from Mypoints to arrive, then I'll head to get some great deals on clearance.
Nora, I too love thriftstores, and I have gotten much of my maternity clothes there.
I was at Target yesterday, looking at the newborn items as we are expecting a new grandson in about a month...there was nothing good there, I was dissapointed.
We buy most of Elliott's clothes at the BX or at Kmart. My mom and sister pick up a lot of things for him at yard sales, but we don't go to too many now, since we live out in the middle of nowhere, and there aren't many sales here.
I did go to some local yard sales today and got the kids some summer clothes that were really cute and I also got them about 10 books for 25 cents a piece.
My favorite clearance shopping is probably Sears or Target. I have the same problem with the season of my boys--I have tons of clothes, but Elliott was born in December, whereas this baby is due in August.
My husband and I actually went to goodwill yesterday, (I know I haven't been since I've been married, and he's never been in his while life) and we got some great deals.
I got 2 dresses and a top (Motherhood Maternity and Old Navy), a couple of baby outfits, a pair of shorts for Elliott, and SEVERAL things for my husband--two pair of expensive dress slacks that run about $40 each regular price...and all for less than $50! While I didn't intend to spend that much, we got some great deals, and I needed the maternity dress clothes for work.
