This beautiful early bloomer is called the Trout Lily in Canada where I live at the moment. Where I grew up in New York State it was called a Dog tooth Violet. It is also called Adder’s tongue because it resembles a snakes tongue. I wouldn’t know about the snake’s tongue because trust me when I say I’ve never close enough to see one.
It is one of the first bloomers after our cold winters.
