Today I posted two jokes both had pictures. The picture was there for awhile and when I went back to look at it the picture was gone.
I know that I went to check comments a couple of times and it was there. The last time I went back it was gone.
What happened?

The problem is likely caused by the manner in which you added the image, combined with the source of that image.
For example, if you copy photos and text from some email programs (like AOL), the text will copy normally, and so will the images...for a period of time. Then, the images may disappear. This is due to the dynamic storage location given to email images, which is often not a permanent or static address. Thus, the image location is viable for a period of time, until the storage pointer for the image changes (or if you modify the status of the email by filing it or deleting it). This will cause images to no longer appear in your post.
There are ways around this, but it may not be worth the effort.

This type of location is only valid (accessible) for a period of time.
