Thanks Gather, and Oscar Mayer, for being chosen to try these new items for lunch.
Try one......you may like it!
My coupons finally arrived, and just in time for a trip to the store that day. The sandwiches were located right in the refrigerated section by the lunch meats They offered various meats and breads, and flat breads....which I am not fond of.
I selected a Turkey Monterey and Bistro Ham. The food was ready, and I had to share my new preparation with others in the lunch room. Lunch is short, and I was afraid there would be time wasted asembling this sandwich. But the zip box opened quickly, revealing the individually wrapped items. The handy box also serves as the warming tray for the microwave. The "pull here" plastic wrapped items opened easilly, no fussing or scissors needed here. Separate the sliced bread, lay on the meat and cheese, place in the box and microwave for 50 seconds. Drizzle on the easy open condiments included, and you'll have a nice warm sandwich for lunch. It's not a jumbo super size, but tasty and filling. You'll need a drink, and might want to add a small bag of chips to the meal. With everything included, it would probably make for a easy cold sandwich also if you have to take one on the road at times.
Day 1 was the Turkey Monterey (7.1 oz) with shaved mesquite smoked turkey breast, monterey pepper jack cheese on a white sub roll, drizzled with southwestern style ranch dressing and a packet of salsa. It was a good combination. Even the bread was good warm, not a typical soggy, tough bread from a microwave.
Day 2 was the oven roasted bistro ham (5.75 oz) with provolone cheese shreds. I think the sliced cheese is easier than a shredded one for this. This was warmed on an Italian Focaccia bread and drizzled with herb vinaigrette dressing. The combination had good flavor, but I wasn't overly excited about this type of bread. The bread is a little more dense, and something I would not buy from a deli bakery. So it was a good experience being able to try just a small sandwich size serving.
Deli-Creations seem to be fast, easy, and fresh. And at a comparible price for a warm lunch. I could see a 5 year old helping assemble one of these sandwiches with no problem. If you're making one for a child, let them help you. Finding them on sale will give you a better bargain for an easy warm lunch sandwich. The 2 photos show the box design which hold the complete ingredients for one sandwich.
