For those of you interested in performance, While this submission has received twice the average level of readership and interest ( Twenty-Two Readers, Eleven Unique Visitors, Seven First-Time Visitors, and Four Returning Visitors ) It has failed to generate the interest, for example, of my top five submissions ( Forty-Three Readers, Eight Unique Visitors, Five First-Time Visitors, Three Returning Visitors ) all in a twenty-four hour period.
That's twice the average, half the peak response. Hhm-mmm-mnn ...
Of course, It was short, perhaps a little too focussed on specific brands, i.e. Microsoft versus Apple, And ... perhaps it asked a little much from the reader, in terms of following the hot-links provided, evaluating the information provided, and forming, then sharing, an opinion. Hard work.
Not to mention the major premise that this ad somehow represented, the ad to which the entire submission referred, and was strongly suggestive of a trend in our not too distant future.
In other words I originally thought that the entire excercise represented serious writing. Audience response, thus far, suggests otherwise.
What do you think?

It used to be easy to reach your friends on this sight by sending them emails. But now you have to post to many groups, including broadcast groups. It's become a bit unwieldy.
I still prefer it here for real content to Facebook!
As far as real SEO goes, this isn't it. As far as Gather's go, I still doubt this is it. Optimizing has to do with keywords, and getting people interested in your keywords. I haven't even figure out the purpose of this (or the last two connected) post, once more if any of the articles have keywords. Did I stumble upon (excuse the pun) something in mid-thought? If I did, I think you need to summon up your purpose, not your hits.
Whether in writing or optimizing, the content is king. This doesn't even seem to have that. If you're trying some kind of experiment, at least let us in on what it is you're trying to do.
Black Hatters can get instant high ranking SERP entries for their KWs on Google, too, doesn't mean the results are kept there, nor do their sites last long on the big three SEs, and certainly doesn't mean the ones searching for your particular KWs are staying on your links. Heck, I have a site that makes the top three for my KWs, and the funny thing is - it's a brand new blog with NO content (past the "about" page.) Getting vistors is easy, getting interest isn't, well, it isn't if what you promise isn't given.
You want inbound links - referrals - from others. People, who actually think your stuff is so useful, or, at the very least, entertaining, that they keep coming back. This could possibly give you an inbound link to your site, but you kinda need to add your real site to each of your articles. (Not sure Gather allows for that, but doesn't seem like it. It's just not that kind of site.)
I'm just suggesting you learn what optimizing really means. Might I suggest Web-Pro-News, or, better for noobs (and I'm a noob, so no insult meant), Site Reference. Both sites can teach you real website optimizing. You want power behind your punch, they'll get you making your own sites, showing up on the first SERP, and get inbound links galore to YOUR stuff, not Gather's stuff. Just remember 10,000 vistors per month is embarassing low, AND they'll even teach you to get what you want out of your very own site.
