Oh Vivian, since you mentioned walking on the beach, painting the waves in words, a haunting image has been building in my mind. I see you, a few lifetimes ago, on a lonely island waiting the return of your love but it's not to be, because the sea has claimed him. You miss him and all you have left in you is a heart drenched in sorrow. You stand high over the forgotten shore and you curse the waves.
(Thank you hon, for your devoted readership).
RAMPANT WAVES
©2009 Robert Burnham
a song of Vivian
Rampant Waves
I call to you
Rampant waves you've made me blue
You took my soul
When you took his love
Rampant Waves
Have you taken enough?
He was a captain without a ship
My confidant, who tasted my lips
He did not sail, he simply transcended
Over rampant waves his legacy ended
Rampant Waves
I feel your froth
Rampant waves you have me lost
You drowned my heart
When you took his strength
Rampant Waves
Where's the end of your length?
The sun still shines without him here
But I'm so cold, your depths I fear
He tried to master - your very best
Over rampant waves putting life to the test
And now he's gone, no more to atone
On this beach; I walk alone
Take me too, you cruel, cruel sea
Into rampant waves I give my destiny
Rampant Waves
I call to you
Rampant waves you've made me blue
You took my soul
When you took his love
Rampant Waves
Have you taken enough?

Oh, this is an excellent piece.

Poddar, I do not make a good guide. Remember, I've been to hell (occasionally), jail, rehab and the unemployment office. You'd probably be better off with a paraplegic mouse. But I can get you here: Drive to Spain and start swimming due west; when the water gets warm you're in the gulf stream and almost here. Call me when you hit shore and I'll send a taxi. lol.
"Winds of the night may your fury be crossed
Let no one who's dear to our island be lost
blow the winds gently, calmly the foam
shine the light brightly and guide them back home"
I'm the type who girds her loins and sails the sea to exact revenge
by wresting pearls from down in the depths of the sea.
I'll brave the seas of my imagination, not mourn my life away.
Awesome poem, dear friend.
Thanks for posting to my group, Anythingwriting
Jen, Vivian can be found all over Gather Island and on most of my threads - do not know why she's not here yet.
My dear sis Randi, not a love ballad, a LOST love ballad. YOU know I am adverse to doing 'romance'.
Angela, he didn't go away, the sea took him.
Stanley, my dad was a helmsman who survived WWII even after being torpedoes twice. His first ship sank from under him, the second made it home to Dover.
Jen, thanks, but stringing words together, a talent? perhaps. Or just a gift from on high.
This is awesome.
My brother-in-law lost his battle with cancer on Thursday, his wife of 53 years needed us. HUGS Robert
Since IÂ’m in the middle of Finals week, I hate to admit, but I must give in to the temptation of leaving a generic comment
But to give it a little personal touch, I added some artwork for you to enjoy!
