Seems Condoleezza Rice says one thing and does another. According to Rice in 2005 she said of torturing detainees
"The United States government does not authorize or condone torture of detainees. Torture, and conspiracy to commit torture, are crimes under U.S. law, wherever they may occur in the world."
However in 2002 it has now been found out that Rice verbally ok'ed the waterboarding of Abu Zubaydah. She later said something to the extent that she didnt recall the conversation she had with the CIA director regarding permission to torture by waterboarding Zubaydah.
Now personally I dont see any terrorist as deserving of anything other than the death penalty. More than that while I dont like the idea of anyone being tortured I also dont care for the idea of anymore Americans losing their lives if we can get truthful information.
What I dont understand is this. Why lie about it? If a person feels they did the right thing and did their duty legally, why not tell the truth when you know eventually somehow it will come to light?
What do you think of this?
