If you followed my blog over at Today, you might recall that I had started some classes in January.
I had started classes for a Paralegal Certificate and for a Microsoft Office Specialist Certificate.
I had nothing but trouble with the MOS classes from day one and ended up dropping them. Fortunately, I was also granted a refund.
I have put the Paralegal Certificate on hold for two reasons.
1) The MOS certificate is more practical right now for getting a job rather than a specific job. 2) In doing some of the assigned papers for the one Paralegal class, I found that the ABA only approves of certificates and degrees from certain programs and many employers require that approval.
Of course the program I had been doing was not under that category, so I decided it wasn't worth spending any more money at the moment.
In the meantime, I decided to go with the MOS program I had originally wanted to do, but thought since the other was cheaper, would work just as well. Wrong!
This program is offered by my Alma Mater (DePaul University) and is entirely online. They send the books and all that and you actually get instructors that are there to help.
I just got the books in the mail so I haven't actually started, but from the online aspect, it looks like it's going to be great. I am very excited!
