Just wondered. We usually don't eat out much. Some months not at all and some months up to 5 times, but that's rare. For me I go through the drive thru or where ever we are eating and think wow had I spent this much at home it'd last for a few days.
So how much do you eat out and how much do you spend at a time generally?

I would say on average, we eat fast food 1-2 times a week, and at a nicer restaurant 2-3 times a month. Fast food (including this cafe, where burgers and stuff are actually made by hand) meals usually run us between $15 and $20 each time for our family of three. Other restaurants cost us anywhere from $25-50 (plus tip). It's insane I know. I try to keep my grocery spending under $75 per week, and then spend that much on food from elsewhere some weeks, too.
When we first got married, we were eating out 4-5 times a week, but then got a lot better about it. Lately we've been doing terrible again, though. I'm going to try to work on getting back to that once a week or less often that we were doing.
DRIVE-THRU!!! You're outta your mind, as Suze Orman might phrase it. You are wasting time and gas unless you're first in line. I see people eight, ninth in line. Goodd grief. Going in is fast, and you can pilfer all the mustard, Splenda, ketchup you want! (Please know I would never do that--well, sometimes just a little.)
I'm lazy.
Um..yeah!
We aren't eating out as much as we use too PN
I don't like to cook, so I am guilty about eating out way too much. And it costs 3 or 4 times more than if I had cooked at home. For example, a dozen eggs is sometimes 99 cents for me here and last at least 6 days, 2 eggs per day, so if I eat breakfast out for 6 days, its at least $5, depending on where I eat and for one meal. At home I have to have butter, jelly and bread, but even with all that, it all last many more days than one or even 6. It is cheaper to buy the stuff and make it at home. I like to eat out a lot too just to people watch........sort of like entertainment combined with a meal.
