This past sunday afternoon, John and I participated in the National MS Society walk in Hershey PA.
According to the MS Society's website "Walk MS is the signature fundraising event of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. By participating in the walk you can know that you’ve shared a remarkable achievement with over 250,000 other walkers at 600 walk sites across the county. You will be making a difference in the lives of over 5,700 people living with MS within Central Pennsylvania, as well as their family, friends and caretakers. But most importantly, you’ll be making a difference by raising essential funds for research and services for people with MS."
John and I raised $180 from family and friends. At our walk site, they mentioned that last year's walks in Central PA raised over a million dollars. About a thousand people were gathered at the Star Pavillion next to Hershey park, ready for the walk. A number of people brought along their dogs to help with the walking!

All ages were there, and many were dressed up in team shirts. Giant Grocery stores had several teams with green shirts.

Before the walk, there was a DJ from a local radio station getting everyone warmed up for our 3 mile hike. The Hershey route passed by the edge of Hershey park, went along Chocolate ave in front of the Hershey factory, wound past the Hershey Mansion grounds and traveled through ZOOAMERICA (with a route outside the zoo for the dog walkers).
There was a rest stop at the half way point with water, fruit and cookies. They even provided a rest stop for the puppies!
Afterwards, everyone gathered back at the Star Pavilion for a light lunch and to celebrate a job well done!
