Rice and Bush receive same speech fee

Rice earns same speech fee as Bush WASHINGTON (UPI) -- Former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice earns as much per speech -- $150,000 -- as former President George W. Bush, says a speakers bureau. 

The Washington Speakers Bureau represents political celebrities, including Bush, Rice and former first lady Laura Bush who charges $75,000 for a speech, The Hill reported Saturday. 

The quoted fees are flexible and are used as guidelines, said an agent for the bureau. 

Bush spoke in March in Calgary, Canada, at a private event and is scheduled to address the Economic Club of Southwestern Michigan on May 28. Rice last month addressed the NFL's annual owners meeting and is scheduled to speak to the Economic Club of Southwestern Michigan April 30, the Hill reported.

What I found even more interesting is that former British PM Blair earns more per speech than any of the former American politicians. Odd but true.

That is interesting... I also heard something a while back about a possible memoir for Laura Bush, but that no one had asked the former president for his; but I'm not positive how accurate that is

I'm not surprised by Rice being paid as much as Bush. My feelings are that she far out shines him in personal preparation and formal educational achivement. Though he was elected president his personal life was froth with less than stellar achivements which makes me feel Rice wasted her time in joining with him.

Their ideology and government were complete disasters for this country, and will remain so, with the entanglements in the Middle East, the Economic nightmares, and beyond, far outlasting the bounds of their pathetic corporate backed reign.

I'd pay Bush up to $1.50 to keep his mouth shut. Sorry, but he never had anything better than equivocations to say anyway. (See my "By All Means")

Since Rice's field of expertise was supposed to be foreign affairs, I wonder why the NFL owners would want to hear from her. Otherwise I am not surprised to find what is probably the more interesting speaker gets the higher fee.

I can't believe anyone would pay $150,000 for Bush to speak! He's always been so bad at it, what kind of nutjob would pay him that much money to speak????
