What's up with my Azaleas...(photo essay)

My azaleas are blooming, but they don't quite know what they are doing...

My medium pink azaleas during a break in the rain...(and yup, it's raining again now).

Close up....

Then I have some dark pink ones....

Now it's my white bushes that worry me....

My white bushes use to be all white, but as you can see, the dark pink is invading...and it's only in this spot.

One of my other white azalea bushes now has a medium pink spot. No this is the same bush...I checked.

Only 2 of my white bushes are completely white still....I guess in the nest few years I'll have to see if my white bushes become completely pink....

Here's what is left of my poor tulip garden after the storms we've had. They didn't fair too well.

Sad, isn't it?

Aww, Jax, that's the pits about the tulip bed. But they were pretty while they lasted. The azaleas are gorgeous. Enjoy regardless of which color they end up. So you can just have spotted azaleas, sort of like poinsettias that have been worked on endlessly to be spotted.

I like the white with pink but I don't garden much so I don't understand all the negative results.

think I read something that soil conditions can make them change their colors. neat pictures

Sorry about your tulips. Your azaleas are beautiful, I like the two toned looking ones. Mine haven't bloomed yet and I have many colors. I will have to look closely this year and see if any of them are invading into different colors.

I love the color of the azaleas. They are in full bloom all around my area. We also have dogwood trees that are in full bloom. I have never seen azaleas do that, but we have lots of dogwoods that are half white and half pink.

Mine are a mixed huge tri-color bush like that too. Of course the blooms are dying off now. One of my Encores just bloomed. Two more of those to go yet.

A wonderful refreshing bouquet of the new spring offerings! I could have sworn today that I actually saw a yellow blossom on one of our white blossoming Nanking cherries, but it might have been a trick of the light. We've had at least one red tulip emerge so far. And my Oregon grape holly is getting little yellow flowers (or possibly berries, hopefully) on it. That plant's leaves look so discolored I thought it was an aberration, but I guess that's how they really look. Everything is bursting out all over. And it's cool how the different colors mix for new combinations. Thanks for posting your beautiful photo essay!

Beautiful azalea bushes. I have no idea why there is some pink blossoms in the white bushes. Never really heard of this before. Maybe the roots from the pink bushes spread over to the white bushes? I have no idea.

I think they all look beautiful. Much better then my hald dead ones. I think I finally figured out the problem after taking with the owner of the local nursey here.

I have a few doing like that too Jax. This is the first year my azalea blooms did not last long......the winds have blown all the azaleas blooms off!!

They are so beautiful! We're too far north and our soil too alkaline for azaleas. About 32 years ago we went to Gatlinburg during Easter vacation and the azaleas were glorious.

My azaleas are doing great, and I've decided that's all I'm planting around here from now on. Apparently I am an azalea grower. Who'd've thunk it!? Hehe. I'm just glad there's something I can grow. LOL I'm gathering right now for a $50 Home Depot card to buy.....yep.....more azaleas. I'm planting them between us and our neighbors along my fence.

Nana is correct. I just got some new bushes from my mothers house, and the things root with just a limb touching the ground. So they end up spreading around. follow the limbs that are pink to the ground and see if this is the case.
