The Red bellied Woodpecker

This little guy loves to come to my feeders.  Then he goes up into a tree and hides all my food.  So I guess I am supporting his habit?  He is so pretty but he is costing me a lot of money.  Guess this is one way to have exotic birds without all of the cost.

I have seen them do this, too. It is fascinating to watch. you are really getting some great pics . Did you see the contest for bird essays to win a bird book? It's on gather.

I just saw that bird in my backyard! It was perched in the edge of our birdbath. I can't get the great shots you get, but we have so many pretty birds in our backyard! My favorite, though, is when a mother bird (I don't know what kind of bird she was) had a nest inside a decorative pump we have on our property. It's not a working pump, just something that looks old fashioned. Pretty soon there were baby birds in that nest, but you had to be standing right at the pump and looking inside it to see them. They've since flown away.

Beautiful shots. At least he is pretty to look at. Our squirrels and the pigeons are the real consumers of late of our bird seed.
