I realized that it said "any man" . . . and that meant me. I was not at all religious, and doubted heavily that this God thingy could be real, and certainly did not consider the Bible anything more than old words of wisdom, rather beutifully written, but . . . that was an actual offer, Jesus made. A direct garauntee basically, that if I asked sincerely, I would get a response of some sort. So . . . realizing this would be a truly important offer, if valid, wether I thought it was legit or not, I thought for myself. It was a promiss, so why ought I not try to "open the door"?
I most definately got a response. It is the Word of God.

People get upset by some of the things I say about religion. For instance, the clerical and translation mistakes in the Bible most Christians in the USA use often makes people say what the Bible doesn't say. I have no wish to debate people who are unwilling to do research before they speak. There is faith, but I don't think faith should support ignorance.
That is a sure sign of a mind devoid of any originality!

i also believe in God, I believe Jesus was a teacher. I do not belive, however, taht Jesus wrote the bible or that anything in it was a direct quote from him. they say if you put a bunch of monkeys in a room with typerwriter (or now computers) you will eventually get the Complete Works of Shakespeare writte.

Well, I say. Your article speaks of the wisdom of thinking for oneself, and that is just what I did. You can believe rumors if you wish, but that does not render those who actually checked the matter out for themselves gullible for not doing so.

Well, of course you have no proof, but what I said was that I quit listening to those who claim to know what they cannot possibly know. It is not possible to know the Book is not the Word of God, except if God informed one of that Himself. There's simply no other way, for we cannot really see into the distant past, or trust that this or that person's opinion about what folks in the distant past were actually basing their words or actions on. We can't even do that for anyone in the present, and thus the wisdom of thinking for oneself, and not going by rumors or what others think.
That's what I realized was the only possible way for me to find out if there was a God; If God informed me. If there was no God, or He chose not to inform me, I could never possibly know. The rest is just heresay, and guesswork, and there is no end to that stuff.

M.C. I appreciate you comment. I have many people on here who I am sure are not in my corner all the time, but I have frinds of 45 or 50 years who are of different opinions but we remain friends. You can learn from someone who is not of your inclinations, there is no problem with people living with their own beliefs, quietly, or on a more unobtrusive level. I do not like prudish ignorant people trying to tell me that their way is the way the government and health care and morals should be forced on those who march to a different drummer.
For some reason I feel I have been allowed to have more experience in different cultures with different beliefs and so forth and somehow are more tolerant of letting each person find out the right path, but at the same time, I will not stand for those who try to pervert the course of life by claiming they do so in the name of a diety.
