Yesterday, it was nice out. The kids heard the ice cream truck, so I told them as a treat they could each get something- only, then it took forever to get here. Just before it FINALLY came this way, I had told the kids we could walk to Dairy Queen instead, which is about a mile away, probably just a bit less.
Of course, when it turned the corner here, I was torn- I'd already told them Dairy Queen, but here was the truck right out front! I wound up giving them an option- $2 from the truck, or $2 from Dairy Queen. Chris opted for the truck, while the girls both wanted Dairy Queen.
Gilly used her scooter, but the rest of us walked. We enjoyed the weather, and some lovely Spring flowers on the walk, found a lot of ants, and had a good walk.
I was bad, and got a small blizzard, but I shared it with all 3 kids, and gave the rest of it to Chris when I couldn't finish it. After leaving, we walked down the street to Subway to get me a healthy dinner. I always get the same thing- ham & turkey sub on Italian Herbs & Cheese bread, with American cheese, and just salt & pepper. It could be healthier with some veggies, but at least I don't slather on sauces, and mayo, and what not.
Chris & Rae wanted a sub as well, so I let them pick one to split, then since it was only an hour till Nick got home, I also picked one up for him. Chris & Rae ate theirs on the way home, while I saved mine for when Nick got home. I ate half last night for dinner, and half today for lunch. Gilly opted for a sandwich at home.
It was nice to be out and active last night. I hope to make a habit of long walks, and bike rides.

I wish the 'good' Dairy Queen was closer....but we have a Rita's near dance now...yum!
Your DQ is about the same distance as my Second Cup. Unfortunately I CAN NOT walk that far. I tried it once, and was nearly dead by the time I got there. It's like 99/100 of a mile from here, and I barely did it, but I did it once.
We have a Subway just up the street from us too. I like their Meatball subs.
I wish I had an adult-sized tricycle. I can't balance on a bike, and I can't stand up on a scooter like Gilly has, for too long. If I had a BIG TRIKE, I could get a lot of excercise, and ride to and from Second Cup. I'd really burn the calories that way. I have very strong legs, just no balance, and my feet hurt if I stand on them for too long.
We walk A LOT when the weather is nice enough (Elliott's been able to do over 3 miles at once already this year, and I'm sure it will just keep improving), but there's no where in town to walk for anything to eat or anything, other than the cafe that closes at 2 pm. ;) I guess that's good in some ways.
