Almost done with our In vitro cycle.

Most of you know we are going through In Vitro.  Here are my original articles if you would like to read them: 

We are starting In-Vitro Fertilization!

I have family court tomorrow.

Today I had to be at the doctor at 8AM.  So much for sleeping in on my Saturday!  That was the 4th time I had been to the doctor this week for bloodwork and an ultrasound.  I am a total wreck due to the hormones. I look like a junkie from all the needle sticks.

Everyone around me has been patient but are ready for this to be over.  I have been emotional and in pain from my head to my toes.  This is a lot to put your body through.  My boobs are huge and they hurt yet everyone keeps touching them.  My husband, my mother-in-law, my co-worker, pretty much anyone without big boobs are enamored and insist on touching them.  I have had a headache for almost a solid week, I can't sleep, I can't have sex because it hurts so bad due to my ovaries being enormous, that might be what is making me so cranky.  :)

When we started this my estrogen level was 30.9 and the doctor said that was good.  I started my injections of follistim and menopur on Friday April 10th.    Monday, April 13th my estrogen was 153, Wednesday it was 419, Friday  it was 1,186, today it's at 1,656.

 Tonight is my last regular injection.  Tomorrow night at exactly 9:30PM I have to have an hCG injection and that's it.  Nothing but antibiotics on Monday, nothing to eat or drink after midnight due to the anesthesia and then I have to be at the hospital at 8AM on Tuesday morning for the egg retrieval.  Wednesday they will call us with fertilization progress and let us know when the egg transfer will be.  (probably Friday) I hope they give us pictures of the embryos.  I would love to see what they look like. They are probably going to transfer 2 eggs.  The pregnancy test will be around May 9th.  Hopefully I will have a present for Mother's Day! :)

That must be a heck of a shock to your system. I thought high levels of estrogen were dangerous as far as cacner development goes. Anyway, I'll hope it all works out for you. Only 2 eggs? Don't they usually take a bunch?

They take a bunch and whatever they don't use they will freeze in case it doesn't work.

Robyn, everyone is driving me crazy saying it's going to be multiples. My sister's are twins and Shane's middle daughter was a twin. She died at birth. I know that God won't give me more than I could handle but I pray he doesn't give me 8! LOL!

not sure how that works juley, would they know if the embryo 'splits' into twins? i would think they would know that before implanting it.

It sounds like you have been through a lot. I think I'd have to smack anyone touching my boobs just because they got bigger. Especially if they're sore!

I really hope all of this works out well, and that your precious baby arrives in January!

It is an amzing story and one that you are brave to share. I am sure it helps othes. I went thru 2 years of fertility treatments and was near insanity from hormones and doctors apppintments. Then we flushed the meds and adopted a little boy. One his second birth I conceived a biological child without any help from science. Your story is different, and I wish you the best with your soon to be family.

Heather, as soon as I walked in to work the receptionist was like "DANG! Where did those come from? I wanna touch 'em!" LOL! She reached over and was touching and one of the guys walked around the corner and just stood there grinning. hahahaha!

I've just recently applied for a job in the fertility clinic at the hospital I work for because it was would be so rewarding to be a part of the team that shares your joy.

im so excited for u, we went through that same process which seems like years ago but it was only 4 yrs right about this time because my daughter was born dec 16 and before that we tried for 7 years. we also used 2 embryos and have 6 frozen, we didnt end up using the remaining 6, 10 months after my daughter we decided to try for another and we figure we try early in case we had to use the embryos and guess what, I didnt even get to practice this time. my son will be 2 this july. we still can get ourselves to decide the faith of the remaining embryos. take care of yourself.

I'm sorry, but I had to laugh about everyone touching your boobs. I remember when my milk came in with my first son...My hubby was in awe and I was in pain. He wanted to touch but I told him NO WAY!!!
