I saw Kevin's comments on this person's work, so I went through and checked out some other work. WoW! Is there nothing original? Who do you report this to? This isn't incorrectly citing a source. This is a longtime member who is just downright stealing. Do I sound mad? Don't follow my comments because you won't find them. I won't comment and I disconnected from this person. With friends like that who needs Somoli Pirates?

I haven't a clue about who this could be ..............
You can do what I and others do when we see stolen material, search for the origional creator and drop them an email. Hopefully they come to Gather, report said sticky fingered low life and get something done about their behavior.
Thankfully it appears that the member took down the offending post of their own volition.
A friendly reminder, Kevin is surely in order, but I am sending you a list of blantant thievery. It's on going.

I think it would be super friendly of you or anyone else who knows to email their friends about it. And you asked who to report it to. Why not Gather support???
some will put a small paragraph of thrie own on it, but many just cut and paste and let people start a discussion.

i'm so p--sed at myself... Grrrraaaa
Gather is no longer a writers forum so calming Copy@ don't amount to much. at one time it might have worked. but now??? who's glitter is this or thats my glitter....the truth is not every pick is nice even if 50 people drop nice glitter on it.. at best 30% of Gather is quality and less then 10% is worth paying for.
Crystal, in response to ".can I post an article I read somewhere that I found interesting? Or a picture of something I like on the net? Is that stuff allowed?"
No, it isn't. If you notice the Copyright and Content Ownership tab beside the article editor we all use to post, it says:
"You're responsible for any content you share on Gather, so you should only share content you created or for which you can provide written permission from the copyright owner. Remember: you automatically own the copyright for content you create. If you share content you didn't create or for which you don't have permission, you may be violating copyright laws and Gather's Terms of Service."
The best thing to do in your scenario is to give us your thoughts on what you'd like to share with us, why you wanted to share it, what touched you about it, and then post a link so we can see it at the original site. Or, ask the copyright holder's permission, and, if they give it, then you may repost it - with full credit to them.
it seems gather will need to close.
what about glitter? dose MySpam Glitter belong to me if it is in my ping space? if i get glitter can i put it on my web site?
do i own the comments that are left on a post i created? if so can i republish my post and the comments to my web site? if comments are not mine why would i be able to delete some ones content?

if you are under 50 you have heard the The "Amen break" was a drum solo performed by Gregory Sylvester "G.C." Coleman.
The "Amen Break", "Amen", or imitations thereof, are frequently used as sampled drum loops in hip hop, jungle, breakcore and drum and bass music. It is 5.20 seconds long and consists of 4 bars of the drum-solo sampled from the song
"Amen, Brother" 1960s funk and soul outfit The Winstons. The song is an up-tempo instrumental rendition of an older gospel music classic. The Winstons' version was released as a B-side
The Amen Break was used extensively in early hiphop and sample-based music, and became the basis for drum-and-bass and jungle music--"a six-second clip that spawned several entire subcultures"
Amen, Brother by The Winstons (1969)
This is the most influential 5 sec in the world. it marked the end of Copyright

poorly written
aren't we a bit pithy?
if the holder presses the case let them press all is good.
but why the gang... ??
"Many people are unaware of the law (and the TOS), and only need a little friendly advice to rectify any potential policy violations. However, there are others that willfully disregard the intellectual & physical property rights of others.

this looks like an evil game.
i won't say who said it, but if you say it i'll spread it. don't follow my bread crumbs. unless your a nerd bird...
get real my kids are grown...:)
Obviously. And yet you keep coming into discussions about such straightforward theft and arguing for the thieves with arguments that "copyright is dead", bringing up remixing, which is completely irrelevant to the issue at hand. You're contradicting yourself all over the place. And that's when anyone can make heads or tails of your comments at all. And, seriously, every time you use the word pithy as if it's some kind of denigration I have a nearly irresistible urge to quote The Princess Bride.
how many avatars do you have? an IP is not a tracking point most people live behind fire walls.
Gather is small the net is big.
only the person who created the content can prove ownership.
?? ??? ?? ? ????.
