Last night, within an hour or so of my posting this, readership of my sites, all of them, 'spiked'. From an average daily readership of about six, to sixty, in an hour and a half ...
Just a brief note, If only to fill in some of the blanks. It is becoming more obvious that everyday, more and more of us at least, try Facebook and even Twitter. When it comes to the latter, I am not one of them. One of the drawbacks to most of the so-called 'social services', is dimensional- That is to say, in the classic sense, breadth & depth. Twitter is what I call a micro-mini blog, allowing only the most concise headlines, at best. Facebook, on the surface, at least, fares a little better. Gather remains the King, or Queen, if you prefer of the very social networks, and, as it turns out, is more than perfect for the serious, creative writer.
I may be preaching to the choir here, More than likely this is not really news to you.
But, on two counts, Facebook bore looking at, researching. One, Several writers I know have fairly long-standing Facebook accounts, and Two, In Facebook groups some of the limitations in terms of dimension have been lifted. There is more room inside, as they say.
Nothing compared to Gather and it's resources, certainly- Yet worthy of more research.
One of the limitations I ran into, almost immediately, was Facebooks all but total lack of support for HTML,
Serious Writers Appreciate an Occasional Headline and / or Sub-Head.
This morning I wrote Facebook support to explore this limitation further and will get back to you. That's another thing. How hard is it to get in touch with Staff at Gather?
Answer: It's not.
It took me most of the morning just to find Facebook support. I Googled them, finally, and in the end, found a Blog.Google entry dedicated to contacting Facebook support. See < info@facebook.com >.
What's your experience?

Gary.
I love gather, but I've decided to give facebook a test drive, to increase my views. I will be doing swagbucks and I'm told you can put a widget on twitter to see your swagbucks code promotions. So that would be the only reason for me to twitter.
Let us know how that goes, Okay? I'm interested in your experience ...
I have noticed that since I have been bookmarking my posts in twitter the # of views I am receiving have gone up.
Twitter still doesn't make any sense to me. That is to say, I just can't figure out how to use it. It escapes me.
