I have said a few times on this blog that I am by nature a Conservative, (Republican) not a Liberal, (Democrat) but I might have to re-phrase that to mean Canadian Conservative because during the last half a dozen years I have lost almost all faith in the GOP down there in the good 'ol U.S. of A.
From the war crimes of "Dubya" to the insanity of Cheney, to the idiocy of that fat guy........., Oh yea, Rusty Limburger, we have seen the implosion of democracy and common sense in American Politics!
Now to top it all off Sarah Palin is still considered the shinning star of the righteous right in spite of a track record that would send any business executive out the door with no golden parachute at all.
Now don't get me wrong, I like Sarah Palin, (Only because she is hot!) but here is a woman who espouses family values while her daughter has a child out of wedlock......!
(I'm not even against unmarried women having kids, it's just that the "holier than thou" Republicans always looked down on anyone who behaved that way!)
Here is a woman who this week in in Evansville,Indiana drew approximately 3,000 people to the Vanderburgh County Right to Life fundraising dinner an annual banquet that typically attracts some of the GOP's top national talent.
This is also a woman who would reverse Obama's legislation regarding stem cell research no matter how much she pisses off Michael J. Fox.
And here is a woman, who back home, had her controversial nominee for state attorney general, Wayne Ross, rejected Thursday in a 35-23 vote by the Republican-controlled state legislature after a week of damaging confirmation hearings that revealed a string of past controversial comments.
(Ross came under fire for his past defense of a Ku Klux Klan statue and a 1991 quote that said: "If a guy can't rape his wife... who's he gonna rape?")
Palin said in a statement that she was "surprised" by Ross's rejection. "Mr. Ross is a fine Alaskan," she said. "He is held in high esteem by many Alaskans. I appreciate his willingness to serve the public."
I could go on and on but I think you get the idea.
So kids, if the Republicans keep this up, things won't be looking too sweet for them in 2012 either!

I agree with every thing you have said in this post. I am delighted that Republicans have Palin to continue in their downfall.
I would love to watch her run against Obama in the next election.
Norene, are you talking about the Bush administration? If your kids go north, they will have "socialized" medicine and gay rights.
Spoken like a true blond......
The Mulroney - Schreiber Affair
Jane: I agree that Palin was a net drag on the ticket, but I doubt McCain would have won with anybody. Don't forget that Palin's initial effect was to energize the ticket and the campaign rallies. By the time her Bushian level of ignorance began to surface many on the right had already hardened their attitudes in defense of her. She became increasingly embarrassing. But given the baggage that McCain was carrying (i.e. the Bush legacy) and the quality of Obama himself as a candidate, this election was almost over before the nominations were confirmed.
Norene: It is funny that conservatives in the USA are now more frequently making comments about leaving for Canada. Liberals said this a lot during the Bush presidency, but at least it made sense in that going to Canada would be an escape from a government leaning too far to the right. But Canada not only has socialized medicine and legalized gay marriage, but is generally more liberal than the USA. We have openly socialist parties holding seats in our national parliament and forming governments at the provincial (state) level. If you don't like Obama's direction fleeing to Canada would hardly be an escape for you. Listen to Leo on this one.
Georgianna: Given that their entire platform, as it did exist, was discredited by eight years of tragic catastrophe under the Bush Criminal Cartel, it is hardly surprising that they don't talk much about it. I suppose they could talk about their leadership, but with Palin, Coulter and Limbaugh as the most prominent people in their movement I guess that's a non-starter too!
Jeff: (Said in nasal 'George McFly' voice) Real mature!!
Wow, I always figured you talked like that. But I suppose when I grow up I'll just accuse people that I disagree with as being racists hate mongers. Name calling just yells class. I guess it's easier than getting into a battle of wits when you are unarmed like Georgianna.
Allan
In Canadian politics I have been more infuluenced by the Party Leaders than the ideology of the Parties themselves since they both try to hug the middle ground.l
With Ignatieff as head of the liberals I would vote for either.......... anything except the NDP. If those Socialist bastards ever get in I'm moving to Australia or killing myself!

Good point. When I am civil she will only think I am hateful and bigoted. You Canadians though........
She cost McCain the election, and if she's a viable candidate for the Republicans, they'll be out of power for a long time.
She's much better as a concept than as a candidate.
