Springtime is for the birds. What better time then now to start taking photos of these beautiful creatures near their natural habitats and in your own backyards?
Share your birdwatching photos essay in Parenting.gather.com. Gather Editorial will select two members who share theirs to receive a free copy of Birds of North America (read a Gather post from the author here) and 1,000 Gather Points™ each. Here's how it works:
- Create a new post. Upload photos and drag them into the post
- Include the tag birdwatching
- Share your post with the Parenting group
Your birdwatching posts must be shared by Sunday, April 26th.

do they have to be in your yard? I have no trees and getting birds to come here (and close enough that I can photograph them) is a big issue.
Tomorrow we will got on a birdwatching trail at the Crane foundation and take photos of the Cranes. Can I submit those?
That's where we are headed tomorrow.
Yes, you may submit photos from the trail. They don't need to be in your backyards, but we are looking for photos in nature. (For example, no parrots in their cages in your living room.)
You can also use photos you've already taken.
The cranes are caged (though some in natural habitats) but the trail birds are all wild.
Thanx!
We have some feeders in our backyard, my daughter LOVES to watch the birds out her bedroom window adn I have some pics I can use, and am always taking more!!
THANK YOU:)
You must create a NEW POST. (You can copy and paste an old one.) To be eligible to win, all entries must have a publish date between April 17th-26th, 2009.
No. Just make sure it is outside in nature. A zoo is acceptable. A cage inside your house isn't though. But I hope there are no peacocks walking around your living room! : )
I was going to do an essay about a Blue Jay that we raised but the picture can't be with a cage. I don't have many pics without the cage in it. I'll have to see what I can find.
