Welcome to the HelpCenter™!

The original Gather help series -- assisting members since 2006.
Need a little help, or have a question?
Can't find something? ...or figure out how something works?
Ask other members!
Everyone had there coffee this morning?
I hope to catch up with outstanding questions/problems sometime this morning.
I have been experiencing a lot of quirky problems with mail over the past week...not getting messages, and mail I sent not arriving. I'll go through my mail and verify the last message I received from you...but I'm fairly certain that I have responded already to anything you sent to me. I'll get back to you shortly...!
I did send that message out, and received a response from one of the recipients.
AaarrGGhhh!!
The mail glitch hath struck again I think. I'll resend the message to everyone again as soon as I can (I have a few outstanding questions from prior days I'm wrapping up).
Look for it soon!
If I was on that list of people along with Digital Diva, I did not receive your message. Doesn't it make you wonder what else is being sent that is not going through? Or who is really getting the messages when they are not supposed to? ;o)
I was glad actually to see that 'life interrupted' last night. :)
Sheesh, the week flew by for me....
I know what you mean regarding the week flying by. I accomplished only a fraction of the goals I had set for myself....but there's still a day or so left to squeeze in an accomplishment or two.
Good afternoon, Kevin and enjoy your weekend!
Marilyn
I was just wondering if you ever found yourself.
Where were you?
Were you okay?
Are you still (??) mentally stable?
Physically workable?
Did someone have you tied up??????????????
OMG!! Are you still capable of siring? *snort*
Okay, you don't have to explain. I know you love me. bah-ha!!
I try not to use the private mail message anymore since I found out its not really private.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Friday and an Excellent weekend!!
GREAT question!
When you leave a group, all content you shared with that group while you were a member remains behind. The security settings in place at the time you published the content remain valid.
For example:
When you share content with a private group, and that group subsequently changes from private to public, your content remains private.
I hope that helps!
I just read the post of someone, you caught copying about Gather tips. I'm disconnecting from that person. I'm disgusted with people who intentionally steal others work. I've made mistakes, but not blatant. This has to stop.
I'll blame it on the pain meds and being 3am. . . if it's still t here in the morning I'll be further confused :0)
Carol - Many people are ignorant of the law (and the TOS), and only need a little friendly advice to rectify any potential policy violations. However, there are others that willfully disregard the intellectual & physical property rights of others...hopefully the offended last night ended up taking down their post of their own volition, and thus falls within the former category.
I'm not certain that I remember the name (at the moment), but I'll try and dig it up for you. However, I don't think it was done intentionally....yet I haven't viewed the rest of this person's work to see if it a pattern of behavior.
I have worked for two corporations where having a Twinkie thrown at you was a highly sought after opportunity. Each week we would choose one employee (or more than one on occasion) and toss a Twinkie at them during the all-staff meeting. This was a way of recognizing them for some accomplishment over the past week. Most of the time that acknowledgment was for something positive...but not always.
Thus, you now have an opportunity to "toss a Twinkie" at your fellow members to honor them in the same way. The recipient of the week's Twinkie will appear in the group.
I received your message, and I determined that I am experiencing a larger publishing problem than just your group. I'm currently not even publishing to my own groups!
I don't know if this is a Gather glitch, or due to the automated process I use to publish...but I'll get it rectified today before I publish today's HelpCenter post.
Thank you for notifying me!!
(I've been encountering a series of unusual quirks & glitches lately).
The member was Niju S.
The post in question was removed last night/this morning. I don't know the history of other posts that they may have shared in the community.
By the way, did you receive my message about the finished buttons?
I'll resend it Marsha...I'm encountering many technical difficulties with mail, as well as publishing.
Thanks for checking!
It's nice to see you again....I hope you're doing well. I also hope that you've published an update letting everyone know what you've been up to and how you're doing. If so, I'll check it out as soon as I conquer these publishing demons that are vexing me.
Have a great day!
I haven't resent the message yet as I have been dealing with yet another glitch that I just became aware of. I'll get back to you as soon as I am finished testing the publishing process and isolating the cause of the problem.
Thanks!
A glitch is preventing my posts from appearing in many groups...including my own!
If you have noticed my content no longer being published to your group, it was not intentionally removed from my publishing list. At this time I cannot publish ANY content to your group(s), or to my own that are similarly affected.
I hope to have this problem corrected soon.
Thank You!
Good luck with all this, Kevin!
Connectivity issues (a poor/intermittent internet connection) will cause the problem you are experiencing.
Here's what I suggest:
1) Create a new test post with a short title and only a few words for the post/article body.
2) Publish this post to "Just Me" (privately).
3) Be as quick as you can, and spend as little time as possible in the editor.
Then let me know the result of your test. I can then advise you further.
Hang in there!
I don't suppose you'd have a clue as to why I am getting about 20 profile views per day, and they are accompanied by....nothing. Virtually no comments, pings, mails or friend requests. Who are they and what do they want? :o/
Stalkers?
Seriously though, this can easily happen when you comment in the community, or others comment on your work. Also, each time your friends ping you or check for recent content, they can trigger a new page view count (depending upon a variety of factors). 20 views is not really that out of the ordinary.
Thanks for getting back to me. I almost didn't see your comment, so I'm sorry about the delay in responding.
Posting/publishing problems are often caused by a connectivity problem or a conflict with your computer in some way.
You can often minimize or eliminate these problems by following the steps below:
Please try the above and let me know if you notice any improvement. Also, if you have questions about any of the above, let me know those too.
Good luck!
