Gather Etiquette Question: Friends

I have another question. Obviously one does not want to stop making friends and accepting and receiving friend requests, but how can you keep up with all their posts?  I want to be able, as a gather friend, to comment on all my friends' posts; but if I continually add more at some point I won't be able to do that.  What is your advice?  What do you do?  How do you decide and how do you keep up?  My slower computer doesn't help, either.  Thanks, all.

Yes good question! I try to keep up but if you miss a day on Gather, then it takes awhile!
I'm already having trouble keeping up! I just do my best and hope everyone understands that I'm busy.

I do the best I can. I would hope everyone understands that. Afterall, we can't spend every minute of the day on the computer. Or at least I can't. ;)

If there is a way to keep up, I sure don't know what it is. One gal yesterday wrote that she doesn't do much commenting at all...that she comes in about 3 times a day and goes through her feed....that she's only here about an hour a day and makes about 100 pts a day.
On the other hand, viewing alone doesn't allow others to know that you were there. Back to I have no clue.

I'm not always that good at keeping up with all my friend's posts. I have a few friends I have email alerts for and I try to always keep up with them. You can create different types of friends and search activities based on the friend type.

There's no sure fire way to keep up with all of your friends' posts! I know because I've tried!

i always view everything that is posted from my friends. i usually comment but some days it just can't be done. you do the best you can.

I used to get email notifications on all my friends/connections but it just became overwhelming as the number grew. I was at the point that some days there would be thousands of emails in my box! I finally shut that all off, and now just do the best I can getting around. I try to concentrate on my groups first, and then surf the recent articles and photos through Explore etc. There just isn't enough time to "keep up" as it were anymore, LOL. I think everybody that has been here a while eventually ends up in that position? I dunno.... ;-)

one way is to make a group and they can add their content to it that way you see all they post and can save yourself from missing anything or go from page to page looking for their new stuff

I'm thinking about changing my settings to get email notifications when my friend's post articles/pics/videos. I started out getting posts from groups.. but that got CRAZY. I think I'll set up a filter on my email to send everything from gather to a folder so I can still navigate the rest of my mail and not lose track of anything.

I'm starting to see this issue myself, but I'm just doing the best I can. I try to view everything, but can't necessarily comment on everything... good luck!

I have that same procbem. I have well over 300 friends and I belong to 25 or more groups. I some times get 900 to1000 emails a day. I can not keep up with every thing. I wish I had an answer for you . But I don't. I just do the best I can

You are supposed to keep up with them all! NO way!!!! are you kidding me? Between my other on-line interests I don't have time to stay in touch with every thread. How many people do you need to stay in daily contact with? I had email notifications on but turned a lot of them off.

I don't think there is an easy answer because it takes time, if posting comments all time you wont' have time to post your own posts , photos or videos, etc. Not to mention making time for your life away from Gather.

it's impossible to keep up with it all! I comment on my groups that "require" you to comment on someone daily first, then comment on those who have commented on my stuff. Then go from there based on what interests me. and of course try to help out groups that I'm a member of if they need content viewed for commenting, etc.

I put my gather connections into groups :family, friends, good connections, connections and trolls. Then I set my page to what group I feel like viewing each day.

I don't know about others, but I don't expect you to comment on everything I do! I'm working on college- so I just try to answer a few a day- and switch up who if i can

Thank you all for the great comments. I was feeling guilty taking on new friends if I couldn't comment on everything or at the very least view it.

I know what you mean.. I try and comment on everyones work. It make take a while but I do get around.
