Do you know where your New Year Resolutions are? If you answer in the affirmative, with a resounding "Yes," congratulations! The good news is that you have reason to
be proud. You have likely made progress on priorities in your life. You are also in the minority because most folks abandon their resolutions within weeks or months of making New Year promises.
Whether you have nurtured your resolutions, or given up on them, Spring is a wonderful season to hit the'reset' button on your life. Pump some new energy into the things you would truly love to see, do, be, achieve, learn, feel, and experience in 2009. Consider all that you can accomplish in the next nine months if you set your mind to it right now, build a plan around specific, measureable goals, and take small, consistent steps each and every day. You don't have to move mountains overnight, but you do have to dig a spade full of dirt every single day . . . Why not pick up the shovel and string together 30 back-to-back victories - small daily steps - for the next month?
Join I Resolve To . . . Group members for a 'Spring Resolution' Chat on Earth Day, Wednesday, April 22, from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. (ET). The chat will be hosted by me and Gather's Jennifer Hodge. Come toot your horn a little bit about what has worked for you, what you have achieved, and what you would love to achieve in 2009. If you have run into obstacles, we want to hear about them. If you are looking for Gather buddies to team up with, let's roll up our sleeves and get to work - brainstorm some new strategies and meet some new friends with whom we can share the journey. Just showing up is half the battle! If you haven't joined I Resolve To . . . at Gather, do so today by clicking this link: I Resolve To . . . Group at Gather.

Second - I want to focus our discussion just a little bit around a few ideas. The purpose tonight is to infuse some new 'Spring' energy into our resolutions and goals. I'd like to talk about what's working and what's not working - toot our horns a little bit about progress, and discuss strategies for overcoming obstacles. I read all the daily posts from folks who are working on a wide array of goals and I know I'm inspired by every one of your successes.
Let's begin by talking about the resolutions that we made, or plan to make . . . how's it going?
I also want to lose weight.
My third resolution is to de-clutter our house.
I'm doing well on the first two, not so well on the last.
I have never been good with resolutions - I've purchased many exercise videos/DVDs and many sit still unopened under my bed :(
So a few years ago I decided that I was going to set one manageable goal (resolution) and complete it and then regroup and set another.
So this year I decided I had to get my book published ... well in February I received great news and have a publisher.
If you really want to succeed choose a few things that you truly want to do - Ashley for instance is really committed to her work outs and has done a fabulous job. Trish, meanwhile, is having huge success marketing her wonderful plays.
Continue with training/weight loss
"declutter" my Life
To progress with business goals at a better clip
Now I am working on a marketing plan as well as trying to market my art products that I sell online and in a local shop. And growing my own garden!
I think Kim's site has kept me inspired
I need to lose weight too - but right now I am just trying to cook more and better.
Now that I work from home and am forty it's really tough for me to keep at exercise.
It was wonderful to have space when we bought our house with a 1500 sq. ft. detatched garage shop - but it's really gotten us into a clutter mess!
Before that, when I was losing mass quantities of weight, my motivation was harder to come by. After a while though, I became used to working out everyday and found that I did not feel right if I skipped more than the occasional day. I fell in love with exercise, weight loss became my by-product instead of vice versa.
I really need to get back to it! I had lost 25 lbs. and have gained about 8 back. It's finally getting a little nicer here in the Seattle area so I'm more inspired to walk. My hubby and I took a nice long walk last night with our pup.
It's hard for me to keep inspired when it's rainy & overcast/cloudy
Unless it is of great sentimental value, my philosophy is 'If I haven't worn it or used it in the past year, it's going out to the universe."
One of the auction houses I used to frequent is having one soon - i told my husband we need to load up a trailer and take items over there. Because we still have some commercial kitchen appliances from a restaurant I sold over a year ago.
Kim, Like Kelly, I too have accumulated debt. My parents didn't really understand credit card debt themselves so I never learned about it until it was too late. Any suggestions on how to organize and set goals in this area? I'm even too afraid to get a credit check. LOL.
So I'm becoming a coupon cutter and I'm actually using them!
You are soooo right! I just have found myself getting to about 30-50 pages on several stories and hitting a wall, so I know I need to do more planning instead of just letting the words flow.
Susan - I'm not good about making the chats because of the time difference - but NoWhineJustChampagne is a great group here on Gather ... many of us are now published! And we werent' when we first started! Check it out. Pat Bertram is the leader
I did watch Susy Orman on Oprah the other day and she has reversed her thoughts on paying down debt now. She said now we need to be saving money because credit will dry up. We're still trying to pay down debt while stashing a bit of money in savings. We were thankful this month since we had to pay taxes.
Thanks! I'll give it a look-see
The first step for any goal is to make a decision to 'do it'. Second step is to define what you want to do and educate yourself about all the 'To Do's'. I did this last fall with my own debt reduction and built a plan that I'm still working on.
One part of my plan is to simply 'stop buying stuff that I don't need'. It's amazing how much stuff we buy that we don't really need. I transferred my credit card balance to a zero interest credit card. And I reviewed all of my spending and cut the fat.
I'm going to have to head out to pick my son up from track practice and grab some fresh brocolli to finish up dinner!
Thanks guys ... I'll check back later tonight and read for more great ideas.
KEEP BEING REVOLUTIONISTAS!!
