I've read a lot about people who think the Obama's should find a church home.....
No matter what he does he's gonna piss someone off.
For the liberals, the church will be to restricting, to fundamental, to this or to that.
For the fundamental, the church will be to liberal, to anti something, people will be critical of how a person can go to a Christian Church and support things like abortion, or gay marriage?
Here is my take on the whole situation, and I've sat on this thought for about a week now, ever since I saw someone make a post about the Obama's feeling the pressure of attending church for Easter, and how they were having problems finding a church that embraced their values.
I may not agree with Obama on a lot of issue, most of them, however, with that being said, no matter what I think his religious affiliation, a person should not feel pressured into going to church just because the 'public' thinks he should.
He's in a huge catch 22 situation here.....
Religion is about a belief system, faith, not a building where you go once a week to be seen and to socialize.
I would, personally, rather see him not go to church, than to go to church and try to pretend to be someone he's not.
There I've said my peace and counted to three.....I'm sure people from both parties will rip me to shreds on this, but I have very strong feelings about church, and religion and beliefs, and while I stand firm in what I believe in, I wouldn't expect someone to try to pretend to be someone they aren't.

PS. I will not delete a comment based on religious or political affiliation. I will, however, delete comments of people who have nothing better to do that put people down and call them names and harass myself and oothers on the board.

Never again will I believe a politician about his Faith. Bush was the ultimate one to destroy that, just before he left office he pretty much retracted everything he said that he believed in a religious aspect. Things he really played to, to get the vote of conservative Christians.
Then Hillary tried it with her, 'faith' got me through Bill's affairs.....didn't buy it with her. Never once has she mentioned faith, and suddenly she brings it up during a campaign?
Sorry but if it takes the 'press' to pressure Obama to go to Church, I'd rather he not go.
Just my opinion and 2 cents.

You seem to have the idea that liberals don't go to church or practice a religion. That is not the case. Just as many liberals have spiritual beliefs and believe in God as do conservatives. It is just that they may not go to a fundamentalist Christian church and may attend a more progressive Christian church.
But, on the harsher side, I have read a lot of conservatives really putting down how could he go to a Christian Church when he believes in abortion, etc, etc....
Frankly, I have my 'suspicions' but Obama has the right of freedom of religion, and that is guaranteed by the Constitution.
I just wish he would not forget the Christian roots of this country.

Despite Shawn's claim that a man of true faith would make finding a home to celebrate with other Christians a first priority, there is no such religious test either for the Presidency, or for being a real practicing Christian. Being a Christian (follower of Christ's teachings) does NOT require church attendance.
Mooch, he comment on Hillary is unjustified. It is well know that she is a faithful Methodist. She simply doesn't try to force religion on others as some do.
No matter what the Obmas do, the haters are going to object.Remember their constant criticism of Hillary's hair and her legs. Democrats did not attack Laura's boring wardrobe--the same plain pants suit in different pastels. Whoops! I just attacked .
And I think more than one person will say Bush really ruined it for them when it comes to a politician claiming a religious stance...

Matthew 6 5-8: "When you pray, do not be like those who only pretend to be holy. They love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners. They want to be seen by others. What I'm about to tell you is true. They have received their complete reward.
"When you pray, go into your room. Close the door and pray to your Father, who can't be seen. He will reward you. Your Father sees what is done secretly.
"When you pray, do not keep talking on and on the way ungodly people do. They think they will be heard because they talk a lot. Do not be like them. Your Father knows what you need even before you ask him.
