Previously, I've announced my taking the new job as marketing director for ActivSkin Legwear for Men previously, but have not made a specific announcement of the launch of my new blog, The Nylon Gene (www.nylongene.com). It was launched late in March, and has been fairly active thus far, with me posting almost every day, and plenty of comments from readers as well.
The blog is intended to be somewhat of a 'go to' source of information and discussion points for the emerging men's legwear trend (i.e., men's tights, pantyhose, etc.). Since ActivSkin is the first company to sell pantyhose/tights made specifically for men--and we are the only U.S.-based company to do so--my position makes me somewhat the de facto spokesperson for issues surrounding men's legwear in the U.S. Of course, our founder, Mr. Steve Katz also holds that position, but having brought me on board, his focus lies more with the mechanics of running a successful company, rather than serving as a 'hosiery evangelist'.
Additionally, Mr. Chan Kraemer, who owns the e-MANcipate website (www.e-mancipate.net) in Europe, has also designated me as the primary spokesperson for articles and other media pieces being planned for publication in North America. Therefore, if you work in the media and your organization is planning to publish anything relating to men's pantyhose, tights, etc. please direct them to my blog--from where they can obtain my company e-mail address.
So, I would like to invite anyone reading this to visit my blog--whether you're a man who already wears nylon legwear, have a husband/boyfriend who does, work in the media, or are simply wondering "what the heck is going on with these guys wearing pantyhose?", please stop by for a visit. Post a comment if you'd like. If you have something more in depth to say, contact me via e-mail and maybe we can get it posted as an item.
Thanks, Steve Newman

I think Steve has a tough job. I'm glad to see someone talking about it though.
Thanks Kevin (and jewi lim). It may be tough in the sense that changing the mindset of so many men to set aside all their bias against any article of clothing that once was associated with women's wear--but it's also pretty fun, too. It's rewarding when we see notice taken of our efforts, in the form of published articles that are getting more than surface info. That's when I can tell I'm getting the message out there, that suppor legwear has beneficial uses for many men, if only they can objectively look beyond superficial hangups and give it a try.
Hope you've been over to my blog (The Nylon Gene) to check it out. Feel free to drop me a line and tell me what you think.
I've worn womens off and on for many years, even as a teenager. I was always to scared to wear them where people could see them but I discovered mens pantyhose about six years ago. I'm 43 now and very much a man. Now I wear them at home even when someone comes over. I still haven't been brave enough to wear them in public with shorts on though. They really do help with the leg pain that I get and they feel great too.
Well, thanks for sharing your experiences, Kevin. I suspect there are MANY men out there who have worn, or continue to wear, pantyhose--either the men's varieties that ActivSkin sells, or women's brands. My goal is to use my unique position as the 'point man' for a men's pantyhose company to set an example that will encourage and embolden these other guys to take a chance and venture out in public with their nylons on for their friends and co-workers to see (if they work in an environment where shorts are permitted).
I think most guys who wear hose are afraid they'll be instantly and permanently labeled as some sort of freak if they do so, and they can't work up the nerve to do it. That's why I believe The Nylon Gene will turn out to be an important catalyst in the evolution of this trend. Anyone can clearly see from the photos I've posted that I go pretty much anywhere without regard to the fact that I'm wearing hose that are highly noticeable in most cases. Even when it's not highly noticeable, anyone who pays close enough attention can see what I'm wearing.
In addition, I try to share my experiences and how favorable a reception I've received from all those I encounter--including close friends, family, and former co-workers. If a small number of guys are positively influenced to follow suit, others will draw courage from them as well, leading to even more guys visibly wearing legwear and being seen. This will eventually produce a 'domino' effect and men's legwear will come to be seen as about as noteworthy as seeing a guy wearing an earring is these days.
So, take courage!
