Red Winged Blackbird

I have a red-winged blackbird (just one) that comes to my backyard, for two years now. He doesn't seem to be like the other pesty blackbirds and has a pretty and unique song. He also has striking red markings on his wings and is very shiny, he really stands out.

I noticed he has been eating the suet, which I put out for the bluebirds. But the bluebirds have found many worms to eat due to the rain. So I guess for now he's not bothering anyone and I enjoy watching him.

I will take more pics later and ty to get closer to show off his red wings.

In Michigan, people say that when you see your first Robin of the year, Spring has arrived. My dad, though, says Robin's come back too early. It's when you see your first Red Winged Blackbird that spring is REALLY here.

He saw his first one last week, when the temps started rising again.

Thanks! I hope to get better ones soon. I happened to catch him hanging upside down and thought it was so cool. The wind has been so strong, the feeder pole will not stya in the tree. I will be so glad whe my trees mature to block some of the wind we get.

Aren't birds lovely? I have two pair of doves that follow me around outside, they have been with me for years.

Yes Kelly, birds are the best. I replaced my seed feeders with suet because I have a male and female visiting my new bluebird house. So, I didn't want any distractions. But now the doves are not coming around. I put out seed in a ground feeder for them but they didn't seem interested.

I seen a flock of red winged black birds once and they all flew away toghether the red from the wings was bright.
It was a Beautiful sight to see.

He is gorgeous, on very rare occasions I've also been priveleged to spy the Oriole, has the orange tipped wings but I've never even seen blue birds except in magazine photos!
