Spring 2009 - First Family of Geese

Happy Easter to us!  This is the first family of Geese I have seen this year.  This isn't "my" goose family, but another family that must live nearby and stopped by to show off for us.  They were on the other side of the pond.  I thought they were going to come over when they jumped in the pond, but they only went a short distance and then got back out to sit in the sun for a while.

First, here is "my" momma goose still sitting on her nest and a few photos where you can see the proud Dad to be.

The protective Dad Goose making sure the family of geese leave her alone.  She looks apprehensive also.

I was hoping the camera would pick up how many eggs she has when she stood up, but I didn't get it in the shot:(

So on to the other family out for an Easter stroll.

Daddy goose puts his head down to move them along if he thinks there may be danger.  This is also his attack mode if he is chasing other geese or ducks away.

So there they are, out for their Easter stroll.  They are laying in the sun now.  I'll watch and see if they come over some cracked corn after they are finished sun bathing.  If they do I'll post another photo essay which will be better photos since they will be right outside my back door.
