Right back to business then :)
This morning on A&E was a show about the Monkees. I remember the Monkees from when I was a kid. I mean what pre-teena and teen age girl didn't have a crush on Davey Jones (ok a few, but not many). The TV show was developed in 1966 and ran for two seasons. However, it became a bit of a cult classic from 1968 thru to the late 70s.
The show was originally supposed to be about a fictional group based losely on the Beatles and their movie "A Hard Days Night." but even after the cancelation of the show. The Monkees still recorded albums and did real concerts. They in basically turned from fiction to a real live band that had a real following. Even after the group broke up the members would get to gether now and then and do a short tour of shows.
The group was made up of Mike Nesmith, Peter Tork, Micky Dolenz and of course Davy Jones. Some of the music they recorded was actually written by members of the band.
I refered to Wikipedia.com for some of this information.
Tell me, which is your favorite Monkee's song. Mine I think is "I'm A Believer" written by Neil Diamond.
