I just got dumped by phone, after 2 months I thought this one was different.  I hope that we can get back together at some point because she has been a great thing in my life.  I know it's been a hard time for her with losing her job and with her being the only person to help out her parents.  I wish things would have been different.  I wish nothing but the best for her.  I will always love her.

Great. Your empathy and concern for your former partner is admirable.
I'm no expert (far from it) but I recommend looking at Dave and expanding Dave's horizons beyond a perceived "great thing" in your life. I know how tempting it can be to project our highest hopes and personify our desires for the "good thing." However, the term "great" is one worth examining, methinks.

The only thing I can say is ... it was only 2 months. It's hard to know anything after 2 months. Don't be so hard on yourself. There's someone out there that needs you for longer than that.
