The Day Glory Came To Reign
4/11/09
The third day came
and Satan laughed
for Jesus still sat
bound in darkness
amidst the demons of hell
But Jesus sat in peace
and waited in confident trust -
Satan couldn’t understand
why fear had not gripped Him
Why was Jesus so very calm?
Suddenly, a blinding light
burst into the realm of hell
and the chains that bound
fell from the form of the Lord
and He stood boldly with assurance
Without effort, He reached
for the keys Satan held
that had bound the sons of men,
those who belonged to God
who’d served Him faithfully
With one swift move Jesus seized
and took away Satan’s power
turning him into a fallen foe
sniveling in torment begging -
watching as his kingdom shriveled
Without warning, a force of wind
surrounded Jesus in a whirlwind
lifting Him from the bounds of hell
into the light of God’s presence
and with Him, came those of faith
His face shone with Glory
and a smile of victory
replaced the torture and pain
He’d endured upon the cross
and at the hands of evil men
He went directly to the tomb
where Mary cried heartbroken
when she learned His body
was not where it had been laid -
distraught, she llifted her head
“Where have they taken Him, Sir?”
she asked of the form before her
“Mary,” He said gently consoling,
“Look up at Me and see.”
Confused, she looked into His face
“My Lord, how can it be?
I saw You die and laid to rest -
how can it be You I see?”
Gently, Jesus spoke to her -
“Didn’t I tell you I would arise?”
“Go tell the others and Peter
I have risen and robbed hell
of its power and its torment
Victory is now for all
who will believe, who will receive.”
That day hell was defeated -
its power stripped from those
who dare receive what Jesus did
when He died and rose again -
the day Glory came to reign -
Will you receive or turn away?
