Our Bunny Cake is in the Oven!

Raegan wanted to make a Bunny cake this year. I have a Wilton pan, but my step-mom gave me two disposable Bunny pans yesterday, so we opted to use that. My wilton pans are buried somewhere! Raegan, Gillian, and myself all helped to make the cake.

The disposable pans are a bit smaller, though, so we wound up with left over batter- not enough to fill the second cake pan, but enough to have batter to make 6 cup cakes once the cake is out of the oven.

Great photo essay
The kids are excited to decorate it- I bought white frosting and food dye, so we can make some colors. The kids want pink on the inside of the ears, blue eyes, yellow nose, and a green bow tie on the bunny!

I remember making a bunny cake with my aunt when I was a kid. We didn't have a form pan but took two round cake pans and had to cut it just right to make the ears and a bow tie. A crescent shaped slice off the top and botton and the left over middle was the tie. Even have a photo somewhere. Enjoy!

Great thing to make together. I am still trying to get organized to get my eggs dyed with the kids! Probably tomorrow afternoon/evening but their baskets are ready, hiding in my room.

Looks like it is going to be good!
Once the cupcakes are out of the oven, we're going to boil the eggs so the kids can dye them. Some years, we never get around to dying eggs. The kids really like it though.

Even after my kids were way beyond the dyeing egg thing I would still do it by myself. I just always enjoyed it.

I used to do this a lot but mine are older and just don't get all excited like they use to.

That's going to be a neat cake!
We haven't frosted it yet- it's in the freezer right now, so we can frost it easier. The kids are going to take a bath while I frost it, then they will be able to decorate it with sprinkles tomorrow :)
