I have several interests, one of them is photography! I love it and post a lot of my work on RedBubble!
My first photography class was back in college. I laugh when I say "back" as if it was an eternity ago. It was actualy in the late 80's and mid 90's so I guess it is like an eternity!
My professor was Vinny Ialenti. We had a rather interesting relationship especially where I had him for Advertising too. I wanted to understand how ratings worked, you know, the formula. Now, please keep in mind, I DO NOT DO MATH. I suck at math. I do, it is true! For whatever reason, I want to understand how it works.( My Algebra professor cured that when he told me don't think about it just follow the rules.) OK back to ratings, I just wanted to be walked through the formula. Well, doesn't my professor start to say, think of it in terms of apples and oranges. What?? I said, I don't want to hear about apples and oranges, he proceeded to throw the eraser at me and told me to leave the class. LOL I did not leave. He did apologize to me later, but geezo, don't tell me about apples and oranges, get my butt up to the board and show me the rules...you know 1+1=2. I had him as a professor in other classes and after the eraser episode we got along quite famously.
Back to photography class. We shot in black and white, processed our own film and burned our own images. So I learned about dodging and exposure blah blah blah. The darkroom was my playground!
Nowadays we are in the digital age and most of what I had learned back then like f-stops, aperature, exposure length has long died along with those brain cells. Me-thinks I should take a digital photography class now.
I have a couple of point and shoot cameras. Some point and shoots allow you to choose aperture priority (how wide the iris opens to let in light) and shutter speed priority (how long the shutter stays open for exposure)The ones I own now are: Canon A560 7.1 mega pixels a Nikon L18 8.0 mega pixels, and Fuji Finepix 10.0 mega pixels. Mega Pixels yeah...the larger the mega pixels the more detailed your images will be and also the larger you can blow up the photo. Most people only need a 7 to 8 mega pixel point and shoot camera for family photos that are going to be printed out as normal sized 3x4 or 5x7 prints even to as large as 8x10.
I love the Fuji for the super macro feature and the zoom capability, I hate it because it only shoots at 72 dpi(dots per inch) I just don't get that. My Nikon zooms fairly well but not near as far as the Fuji but it shoots at 300 dpi with crisper images. Why on earth would Fuji put all these awesome features on their camera and have it only shoot at 72 dpi??
I mean really is it like this . . . . . . . vs this............... the second is going to have better resolution and will not pixelate as much when zoomed in plus there will be less digital noise. Remind me to call Fuji and ask why?
Of course you need a steadier hand or an antishake feature on a higher megapixel camera or a tripod as there is a greater chance of blurring. But if you have a stead hand and or tripod and want amazing detail, shoot for a higher megapixel camera.
I will eventually sell the Fuji, tomorrow would not be too soon as there is a Nikon DSL camera that I want. A little over 400.00 but well worth it!
Ok enough rambling about cameras and mega pixels apertures and shutter speed.
You can see some of my photography and digital art at RedBubble. Click on the link and hop on over and view my stuff! I co-host and moderate 3 groups over there. I choose work to feature in the Architecture and Cityscapes group and I am running a challenge in the Mornings and Evenings, Sunrises and Sunsets group with rainbows after a storm as a theme.
I really hope you take the time to go and look!
Til' next time peace out, love and beauty would love your feedback!
I have attached several photos to this blog but you can see more at RedBubble.

I have also the same passion, I feel like snapping snapping with my eyes every moment, even if I hold no camera...
