I wonder too kellie.  You see my Mother wasn't there for me.   I too live in North Carolina.  My mother never went to California, but she left my life.  I lived in Foster homes.  I cried myself to sleep every night for my Mother.  She was the only one I had ever known.  The only love, what there was of it that I had ever known.   I was a nobody, a missfit. I didn't have the social skills to have friends.  I didn't have any respect for myself or for anyone else for that matter.  Thanks Kellie for writing your song.  I hope you and your mother have made peace.  If not work on it.  As thats the only way to mend your broken heart is to as least give it all you have.  When she is gone you won't have the chance, then how would you feel?  Good luck!

My best friend today... My Mother.  I lost her one time before; I don't know what I will do when I lose her again.  So all I can do is make each day count!

I cry every time I see or hear this song!  God bless you girl.  This song has helped a lot of people mend their broken hearts!
