Well, the kids are home. I waited until today to do grocery shopping because I was waiting on some coupons to arrive, which took longer than anticipated. Ah well, it happens, they still arrived before the end of the sale, I guess.
My primary goal was Easter dinner with a few other things tossed in. I wanted ham for dinner, and thought I could get a small boneless ham for around $12. WRONG. It was almost $20! Ugh.
I wound up going with a turkey for 2 reasons. First being that any turkey 16.1 pounds or higher in weight was $15 off. Second being I had a coupon (courtesy of Gather & Butterball) for $15 off any turkey purchase. To take advantage of the sale, it meant getting a LARGE turkey- almost 20 pounds!! But, I did get it for a end total of only $6.48, so all in all, I'm happy.
Here's what we wound up with:
Green Beans- $.75
Carrots- $.75
Cream of Mushroom soup- $.95
Boxed mashed potatoes- $1.59 x 2
Frosting- $1.73, minus a $.50 coupon, which doubled, making it $.73.
Fried Onions- $2.19 (ugh)
Skippy PB- $2.65, minus a $.40 coupon, which doubled, making it $1.85
Celery- $1.50
Turkey- $36.48, minus $15 sale, minus $15 coupon, making it $6.48
Gravy- $.77 x 3
Funfetti cake mix- $.88
Bake $ Serve Rolls- $.99
Margarine- $.50 x 2
Eggs- $.88 x 4 (1 dozen each for the kids to dye and decorate, and 1 dozen extra)
Egg Noodles- $1.51
Milk- $1.99
Chicken Broth (for the egg noodles) $2 for 3
Food Coloring- $2.65
Sour Cream- $1.50
Stove Top Stuffing- $1.34
Mustard $1.00
Fudge Cake- $2
Vanilla Bean Cake- $2
Fudge Stripe Cake- $2
Pounce Cat Treats- $1.39 x 2, minus $1.50 off 2 coupon, making it $1.28 for 2
Friskies Treats- $1.69, minus $.50 coupon, which doubled, making it $.69
Wiskas Treats- $1.50, minus $1, making it $.50
Potted Tulip- $5.97
All in all, I spent $57.22, and saved $48.14. I wish I'd had more coupons, but I didn't. I didn't need the food coloring, the tulip, the 3 pepperidge farm cakes ($2 each), or as many cat treats as I grabbed, but oh well!
Some of it was stuff that'll last, and the Turkey will last us in left overs for the whole week, not to mention being able to maybe even freeze some!

Walker learned the hard way not to go to a Canadian groccery store on Good Friday. I wish he'd told me before leaving the house what he was going to do (I left before he did to go to the coffee shop), but he didn't, and when I got home I discovered my p*$$ed off husband grumbling about Canadian groccery stores being closed on a stupid day. LOL
I told him not to judge Canada by American norms, because CANADIANS REALLY HATE WHEN AMERICANS DO THAT! LOL
We'll do our shopping tomorrow.
Leah- we have religious freedom, so most religious holidays are not celebrated country wide. Most of the more common religions holidays (such as Christmas and Easter) are celebrated by people who aren't even religious.
