My choice....

I had to make a choice tonight.....I had a dog named Ren that passed away December 1st 2008....After 14 years with my best friend and watching him being born, he has been gone for 4 months now. He was a chiuahua. My friend called me tonight and asked me if I wanted a Chiuahua, told me if I didnt want her that he would have to give her up.....After alot of thinking I told him that I would take her....Her name is Dixie, and I hope I have made the right choice...I miss my Ren so much and dont want to feel like I am replacing him.....So happy that she will be here tomorrow but so sad that Ren is gone...Im gonna give it a go and see....Nation

I think you made the right choice agreeing to take Dixie. Ren will always have a special place in your heart but there is always room for more love isn't there? Dixie will be grateful you took her in.

She's not meant to replace Ren, just meant to love and give love based on herself and her own special personality. Congrats.....to both of you.

Ren would of wanted you to have her. I bet he had his paw into making sure you were not alone. You might even find part of him in her. {thats what I say about my cat Max whom I got four months after his homecoming}

I'm sorry about Ren, but with that being said, Dixie can't replace Ren, never will, she can become a new companion to you and your memories of Ren will stay with you forever.

After my dog died it was along time before I got another. The one I have now reminds me of the other. I think Ren would understand you have alot of love to give after all you gave him alot!

you absolutely made the right choice!!! you miss Ren and are NOT 'replacing' him.....after my frisky died, i waited 3 weeks, and just HAD to get a pet.....I am an animal lover and always had pets......i went out and adopted not 1, not 2, but THREE kittens, siblings, and after my dad passed away last year, i took his kitty in too!!!!!!! enjoy your pooch:)

sorry about your loss you are not replacing rRen,, just giving another a chance to be friends too. you will alway love the one you lose,, i lost my last dog about 2 years ago yet with my lab children i found more love to share to them

It's so hard losing a pet and hard making a decision to get a new one...been there...done that. Enjoy Dixie...she'll be lucky to have a nice new home.

It's hard losing a pet. But since Dixie is a girl, I think it will be good for you. You'll know it's a different dog and nopt a replacement.

I had a Golden Retriever and a Chocolate Lab that passed away within 6 months of each other. Our hearts were broken. We had them for many years. Our house was so empty and I cried all the time. I told hubby, "No more dogs." Well, that didn't last long. We have another Golden Retriever (my icon) and he is the best.

Good luck with your new dog. Ren would want you to be happy and you will see him again one day. This was meant to be and Dixie is so lucky to have a new home.
you've a heart of gold~it took me several years to welcome another kitty into my home after I lost my Jessica. I had her for 14 years, from the day I turned 11. She was my best companion and friend during those formative years.

Just remember that Ren would want you to keep Dixie from going to a bad home where she might not be loved as well! I'm sorry about your loss. It's hard isn't it. I lost my kitty almost 2 yr's ago and he was my best buddy. It never gets easier.

That is so wonderful you are giving this doggy a loving home and a chance to be happy, you won't be able to help but have some of his happy rub off, it's just what they do!! Pets can never be replaced but just as our children there is always another love just for them in our hearts when we are blessed with another. Congrats to your family on another member!!
