I went to the doctor today for a bladder infection.  He asked me if I shaved my arms.  Wow, that was weird.  I told him no.  Then he asked if I were having trouble losing weight.  Yea.  I told him how I'd lost 32 pounds from May through August.  Then, nothing.  He asked if I went to the bathroom frequently. Yea, as often as I can.  Then, he said, I had pre-diabetes.

Wow!  Knock me over.  He put me on meds for diabetes.  He said that would help me lose the weight, I couldn't lose even though I'm not overweight. 

Pre Diabetes.  Wow!  Look at the hair on your arm.  I have almost none or very fine hair, but I remember as a kid, I thought I had hairy arms, so I practically hairless.  Maybe, he's on to  something.

Interesting. Does it affect the hair on your head too? Good thing he caught it early. Diabetes can be scary.

I got the same news about 2 yrs ago. The meds haven't helped me lose weight, but I'm OK in the glucose department now.

I always thought the loss of hair on my arms was making up for the additional hair on my chin!

I've never heard about the arm hair either, I have always had very fine hair on my arms....
But I would if I were you seek a second opinion.

I hope that your treatment will help you feel better very soon. Everyone needs to get tested for diabetes because it can really sneak up on you and cause so much damage.

I think I would have to have a lot more tests done before I would take diabetes meds. My sister in law was losing weight rapidly. They tested her and she has type 2. Her meds are making her gain weight. Have you had blood tests for your sugar levels?

i wouldnt take it unless i saw blood results
it might be true
but you dont issue diabetic meds for a hunch
I still have hairy arms LOL but that's the Italian in me or so I'm told. I also pee a lot but that's because I take a water pill. My Dr. does do blood work periodically and so far my sugar level is fairly stable. And I can never lose weight no matter how much I diet. :)

hope you feel better,, I get my sugar check weekly my son in law is a diabetic,,
also due to fact of old medicine I lost all my hair in certain body parts,, even under the arm and legs

Definitely keep on top of it. If it can be controlled now, you'll never have to face what I went through. You may lose hair on your arms, but it's better than losing a leg. By the way, I have lots of hair on my arms, under them, on my head...not losing it anywhere; not even turning gray.

Did you have blood work done? I'd be certain first. Thyroid problems affect your weight and also your hair. I'd suggest a blood panel and include the thyroid tests.

I am worried about getting that. My grandmother had diabetis before she died. My mom has low blood sugar that they say will switch if she does not main tain her diet.

I have always had very little body hair. I have never really had to shave my legs even LOL And I'm not diabetic or even pre I have a blood sugar of 97 . My hubby is diabetic and is one hairy ole fart.
