Man gets syringe needle removed from his butt...

A Chinese pensioner has finally had a broken syringe needle removed from his bottom after 31 years.

Lao Du said the needle was left in his rear by an 'amateurish' doctor in 1978.

The 44-year-old says he got a cold and when a doctor he went to see in his village in 1978 pierced his bottom with the needle, the needle broke.

Du says he was hospitalized for nine days in a larger hospital but doctors couldn't find the broken needle so he just lived with it.

Du says he recently decided to finally gave it one last try and after three hours of surgery it was removed.

Ouch. Living with a needle in your butt for 31 years must have sucked. I bet it would poke him if he sat a certain way. Good thing he finally decided to get the thing removed.

I remember reading that Howard Hughes had dozens of broken syringes found in his body at autopsy. Most of them for years by drug abuse... Ick.

Seriously that's a bad mistake. He could have sued or gone elsewhere I'd thing. And yes, I'd imagine he'd have been poked with it at least occasionally.

I've given hundreds of syringes (to animals) and I'll tell you now, it's really difficult to break one off. Bend it, yes; break it, no. That would be a real pain in the butt!
