We have always made a big deal out of holidays with our kids, that's how I was raised. Hubby was raised the total opposite, so he wants to make it the best for our kids because he never got to be excited about things as a kid.
The Easter Bunny always leaves a trail of fun-filled plastic eggs that lead from the kids bedroom doors around the house to their BIG gift from the Easter Bunny. In the past, he has brought ball pits castles (when they were little enough) and last year he brought them camping sets, Camping out in the living room... A photo essay!
This year we had a tough choice to make, we couldn't think of a single thing the kids needed or wanted. We didn't want to just buy a bunch of little things, more mess and clutter. We thought long and hard and finally made a decision on Monday night!
They both love playing basketball, we have a small plastic hoop on the door in the living room and they play with a nerf ball. LOL! Now that the weather is getting nicer, it's time to move the sports outside!
The items are 'hidden' right now so the kids won't accidentally see them. But, here is what they will be finding Easter morning...

They are each getting a basketball too. Chandler's is blue and white and glows in the dark! Stephy's is pink with polka dots on it!

So far we don't have any reason to make a big deal out of Easter with Elliott either, since he's only two. He's getting a basket with a small amount of candy, a DVD, play-doh and a few smaller things.
I have a couple of books for each basket, that I got at JoAnnes for $1 each, and a sticker book and coloring book for Maddie, an extra book for Charles that makes sounds (that I actually only paid 50cents for at a discount store) and a stuffed animal for each of them, and some candy, which obviously the baby won't be able to eat, but I will throw some in each basket.
Then I have started filling some plastic eggs, some with candy, some with loose change she can put in her piggy bank. Then on Easter morning, (hopefully the weather is nice) we will hide them out in the backyard for Maddie to find!
We will probably paint eggs tonight or saturday night, since tomorrow night we will be busy.
a small chocolate bunny and reeses peanut butter eggs.
plus a trip to the beach next week, thanks to Grandparents. =)
Helping you reach your gather goals!
He's getting a coloring book, some color wonder stuff, bubbles, a couple of small toys, 3 books, a DVD, and some candy. I'm filling eggs with candy, change, and stickers and we'll be hiding them for him, too. :)
We don't buy any candy because they get enough from other family members.
We always celebrated each holiday when she was growing up with lots of activities. Her husband was never allowed to celebrate anything, so now he is the one who enjoys making a big event of them. He buys all sorts of Christmas decorations so their yard can be the best in the neighborhood. They don't decorate for Easter (though I do) but the kids do get presents left by the Easter bunny. We have an Easter egg hunt in their yard after church. Thank heavens it will be warmer this year than last year!
