Sadly, abuse has always been around. It use to be more "secrete" and maybe fewer families were abusive. Violence continues to escalate.

This gave me the chills, to kill a whole family like that and get away with it and still be at large after all of these years. And you have to wonder how she was able to kill all of them without anyone getting away, if they were drugged or something. Wow.

Its been going on a long time. My mother tried to kill me a few times in the 60's when she was psychotic. If my Dad didn't pull her off me, I wouldn't be here. I passed out when she tried to smother me with a pillow...and I fought her off when she tried to cut off my head with a steak knife. She was pretty determined to kill me. But I was a lucky one, I lived.

People don't want to acknowledge child abuse...family secrets and all that. I guess it changes when a child dies.

It really does make you stop and think when you watch this or it did for me. When I seen it I thought okay I need to post this. I was born in 1968 and I have had people tell me I couldn't be abused like I was and by so many. You would be surprised what can happen to a person and even more surprised they still live. Just as all Heather explained happened to her. I honestly believe people just kept it hush hush back then. Even more then they do now.

I'll bet there were plenty of warning signs before she flipped but people just weren't aware of what could happen. I'm amazed they've never found her.

I can remember knowing that some parents were violent and cruel to their children. What amazes me is that the adults in those neighborhoods knew and did nothing to help the children! People seemed to feel that parents had some kind of right to beat their children and others shouldn't interfere.
We have come a long way. There is still abuse, but now more people are calling police and speaking out to protect the kids.

That is awful. Abuse was not something that was discussed back in those days and there was nowhere one could go to report something like that. I think many of us grew up at that time knowing that we could not defy our parents or talk back or defend ourselves against them.

My abuse started in 1948 and there wasn't a lot done about it back then. It took eight years before authorities stepped in.

It went on back in the 40's and 50's But people just looked the other way. What went on in the home was no one else's bussiness. Children got spanked and booped in the back of the head right out on the street or in a store and no one said any thing

It's sad. Don't you wonder what set her off? Did you notice in the film - she comes out in a housecoat - everyone else is dressed. Did she have some kind of mental illness?

the music sure made the video even creepier...although I find some of those ways unreal to kill someone...dismemberment with a toy saw? stabbed in the heart with a Barbie leg? and how would she do all these different things to each person without the others knowing and such? But yes, abuse has always been here.

Wow. That is horrific. I think abuse has existed since the beginning of time (or at least after the fall of man into sin) but it was covered up more until recently.

Abuse has always been around. Historically it wasn't considered abuse, but parental control.

It may take generations to go from accepted to secret to stopped.

I see first hand the results of abuse all the time as a psych nurse. It's so sad, the life-long effects it can have.
