My little great grandson, Kaden, who is 20 months old, has had an ear infection and bronchitis ever since he arrived here 10 days ago. He was having a hard time sleeping because of the cough and congestion about 3 days ago when I was staying with him.
Wanting to give him some relief I decided to try EFT. He didn't want me to tap directly on him so I began tapping on myself and singing the phrases to keep him engaged.
Even though Kaden has a stuffy head
and a cough, cough, cough
and a very sore ear
and a snuffy, stuffy nose
etc.
Kaden is a very good boy
He's ok and he will be better soon
In a very short time he laid down on the blanket on the floor and stayed very quiet watching me tap and sing. Soon his eyes drooped and I noticed that rather than rasping and gurgling, he was breathing easily through his nose with no coughing.
In 10 minutes, I picked him up and put him in his bed and he slept for two and a half hours. Much longer than usual.
The next day he was better but toward evening, the congestion and runny nose started up again. Of course we were giving him the Rx from the doctor for his ear, the rest being a virus there wasn't much to do for it besides lots of juice and rest.
He was trying to play with toys but having a time with coughing. Suddenly he put his palm to his forehead as if he had a headache then removed it and shook his head "no". I asked if he had an owie head, but he shook his head no again. Then he said, "Nana?" and when I made eye contact he patted himself on the top of his head and then pointed to me. At first I didn't understand and said "what, Kaden?" Again he clearly patted himself on the top of the head and then pointed to me. He's been taught to sign and can be quite expressive with making up things to show what he wants.
Suddenly, I understood. "Do you want Nana to tap for you?" I sang a bit of the song and he came and sat on the floor near me, waiting and watching me. I started tapping and singing as nearly as possible the same phrases from the day before. By the second round he was lying down and breathing easily with no more coughing.
After I finished the third round he was asleep, breathing through his cleared nose without any sign of coughing. He didn't awaken when I put him into his crib for a nap.
It's obvious that he was well aware that EFT had improved the way he felt and he was in need of that healing. I'm so glad he could figure out how to ask me to tap for him. What a wonderful healing method to share with our children.
I'm reminded of the charming story from the EFT newsletter of the little girl whose mom is an EFT Practitioner. She has been tapping since she was a year old and at 2 she now uses EFT on her friends. If a child near her is unhappy, she will reach over and gently pat the other child on his/her head until they are calm. She also taps on herself for any pain or discomfort or when she feels unhappy.
Please note: While we all do EFT in our own personal way and it is very successful, I learned Emotional Freedom Techniques from Gary Craig and adhere closely to his process with conscious intention. As in all cases, please see a doctor for medical problems.

This is a story I'll certainly send to my daughter-with-a-toddler.
Anyway, I was really glad to read that you used singing for Caden.
That's what I used on my great grandson. If you want to read the articles and Gary's comments just go to www.emofree.com and type "surrogate" into the search window.
