Any Massachussets natives or others who have...

We are going to be on a pretty tight budget in Salem next week. I found a pretty good hotel in Danvers, with ok reviews, for $155 dollars for the three nights we'll be there. I'm kind of excited about that, because my daugther Rosie and I are fascinated by old mental asylums and Danvers had one of the most interesting, although most of it has been torn down now. We'll have to find a place to stay on Wednesday, probably around West Virginia, and the same on the way back Sunday.

So, I was wondering if anyone on here knows of good, cheap places to eat around Salem, that might not be obvious online.

Any advice?

I haven't eaten there as we usually just take a quick day trip once in a while, but you HAVE to visit the House of Seven Gables!

We were there a couple of years ago. We stayed in the next town over in the Days Inn. I think it was Danvers. Anyway we were driving around looking for a place to have dinner, kept driving by this shabby looking old metal traincar diner. We love those kind of places, but I did want to eat somewhere a bit more upscale. Anyway, my husband couldn't stand it anylonger so we stopped in. I was so glad, it turned out to be the best meal we had the whole trip! Really cheap too. It advertised on this poster "The best seafood in MA' It was too!!! My husband had the seafood basket, it was delicious. My daughter had the Greek chicken rice lemon soup, as did I. it was phenomenal. We don't remember the place, but ifyou see this really seedy looking metal train car, that's the place!!!! Let meknow if you find it.

Oh, and the only one who spoke Englishwas the waitress. Her father was the cook and owner, they are Greek. DELICIOUS!!!!
