I was supposed to be dining in Springfield at a Mongolian Buffett today! But as spring goes for people of the garden persuasion, our freinds who run a plant business had to stay home and "work hard for the money" so I had a whole day to do something that I hadn't planned on doing!
I made mashed potatoes as part of our dinner last night, so I thought "hey, guess I will play."
Using my sour starter, which by the way smells powerful( what is it week 6-7????) I just added the potatoes, about a cup and a quarter, to the bottom of the mixer bowl http://www.gather.com/viewArticle.jsp?articleId=281474977618799&nav=MyGather.
I just free formed it( it was MONGO HUGE) and diced up part of an onion and tossed
that with 1 egg white and smeared it over the bread before proofing.
Lets just say, we had the first two middle pieces down before it cooled off!

I moved my starter to the fridge. I hope I didn't kill it.
I found a recipe for a starter that has only milk and flour...no yeast. Kinda scary, isn't it?
