The other day, i can't remember what source the headline, I saw it while doing a hit on Mturk , that Sallie Mae was going to bring 2000 jobs that it had outsourced overseas.
I truly believe that this could be one way to create jobs, I know people in the Middle and Far East need work and jobs as well, but at some point in time, in order to help this country and the economy we need to get people back to work.
What I would like to know is there anything that the government can do to give companies incentives to bring jobs back home for Americans?
And will these jobs be outsourced again once the recession is over, or is it possible to hope that companies might have learned a lesson?

PS this post has been edited to correct my error Fannie Mae, to Sally Mae, my position on bringing these jobs home has not changed.

I'm pretty sure this was Sallie Mae, the student loan company, and not Fannie Mae.
Either way, we should give companies incentives like LOWER TAX RATES for keeping jobs here. Not a one time credit of a few thousand dollars, but a lower tax burden.
But no matter I agree there should be a lower tax burden but to those who do go overseas, they should pay for every employee that is overseas.

"Fannie Mae to bring home 2,000 jobs from overseas".
And to my surprise your article was listed on page #1 of the search results. Your reach may be further than even you realize.
Anyway, here's brief summary of the article you may have seen.
" By MICHELLE CHAPMAN, AP Business Writer Michelle Chapman, Ap Business Writer – Mon Apr 6, 4:02 pm ET
NEW YORK – Sallie Mae gave some hope to the unemployed Monday, announcing it will bring 2,000 jobs to the U.S. within the next 18 months as it shifts call center and other operations from overseas.
The move marks somewhat of a turnaround for the nation's largest private student lender, which two years ago was faced with the need to slash costs amid collapsing capital markets.
"We were at the point where we couldn't make a student loan at a profit," Chief Executive Albert L. Lord said during a conference call.
Sallie Mae quickly scuttled jobs overseas as part of a plan to save about $300 million over a 12-month period.
"The company had to re-engineer itself. It had to cut jobs and it had to move jobs. At least that's how we felt at the time," Lord explained.
Once the cost cuts were made, Sallie Mae started to look into returning those positions to the U.S.
The impending influx of jobs is welcome news to the country's unemployed, whose numbers have climbed past 13 million. The jobless rate — which hit 8.5 percent last month — is expected to reach 10 percent by year's end.
Sallie Mae plans to return its 2,000 jobs to the U.S. by October 2010, with 600 of those positions on tap for its Wilkes-Barre, Pa. facility.
I hope this trend continues and more and more outsourced jobs begin returning to the United States.
We've made hugh sacrifices for the Global Economy. Now it's time for us to reap some of the benefits.
