I know that it's pretty pathetic that I am excited about getting a crockpot, but oh well. I have wanted one for so long. I know there are so many meals of a big variety that I can make with it, but I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas of cheap meals that I could make with the crockpot. I figured I would try using it more than the oven now because it won't heat up the house like the the oven will. I made beef stew a couple of days ago which turned out really well. I really aprreciate any ideas that ya'll might have.

For those in Swagbucks, try searching for crockpot recipes there too, and see how many SB's you get! That's what I'm about to do.

One thing--don't cook boneless skinless chicken breasts in the crockpot all day--the shortest setting possible if the dish you are preparing absolutely has to be made with them. They get tough otherwise. I will cook a whole hen for the broth and to debone the meat for chicken and dumplings or a large bag of leg quarters for large amounts of dark meat for soup or chicken salad or maybe chicken pot pie filling.
