Tomorrow my sister is having a birthday party for my niece, Alex, who will be turning 2. Because I live further away, and I plan on staying home for Easter, I offered to bring Easter baskets for all the kids tomorrow (in the family, that is). There are 8 kids in the family, but I got asked to make one for my cousin's boyfriend's daughter, as well, so I'm making 9.
I also suggested an egg hunt, and offered up the eggs I have, which are plentiful. My mom is buying stuff for us to fill the eggs with before the egg hunt. I just got all the baskets finished, though. The baskets themselves I found at Goodwill for $.99 or less. Actually, only 1 was $.99, the rest were $.59.
For inside them, I got 3 3-packs of Double Crisp bunnies ($3 total), 3 4-packs of Jelly Beans ($3 total), and 3 4-packs of Malted Milk Balls ($3 total). I also had 2 large bags of candy I picked up after Valentine's Day for the baskets. Today, I went to Dollar Tree, and spent $1 each on them. For the younger two, Mason (6 months old, almost) and Alex (2), I got board books about outer space.
For the next older two, McKayla (7 and a half) and Gillian (7), I got Princess sparkly ribbon wands. Next are the two bigger boys- Trevor (almost 9), and Chris (10)- they got parachuting monsters- the kind you throw in the air, and they float down. Then for the two teens- Raegan (13 in a few weeks), and Morgan (15), I bought eyeshadow.
Then, there's the little girl I've never met, and don't even know how old she is, Sienna. She could be 2, she could be 7, she could be 12. I have no clue. Since I had no idea, and I -think- she's younger than Gilly, but older than Alex, I bought her a purple Eeyore jump rope. Well, if' she's 12, oh well.
All in all, I got them each something fun, plus they have plenty of candy in their baskets, so they should enjoy it. If they don't- oh well. I've been in charge of Easter myself for the past... lord, I don't know. I think the first year I took over buying the stuff was when My grandma couldn't, and I was about 17. It was before I had Raegan.
From there on out, I always provided the egg hunt, and some years, the baskets, too. I don't mind the job, but sometimes, I have people offer to help pay for it, and they never do. Next year, Morgan will be out of basket age, so that's one less. Of course, we could have more kids in the family by then, too. Who knows.
So, tomorrow we'll do Easter, then I can be done with the family get together.
