Ugh! More Taxes!

Yesterday marked the raise in sales tax for California.  Los Angeles' went up to 9.25%.  One city is up to 10.25%.

The thing that no one seems to be taking into consideration is that this is just going to slow down our economy even more.  People will have to be even more cautious about what they buy because it's going to cost them more in tax.  It also creates problems for the business person because they have to re-scan all of their products with the new tax.

There is a mini mart across the street and when I gave him my Frappacino to ring up, he had to do all these little things to revise the amount to reflect the new tax.  Since he had just raised the price on these drinks by 24 cents a couple of weeks ago, he couldn't raise them again without losing customers so he had to alter the price to include the new tax and he ends up losing money because of it.

I just don't think the people in our government have the slightest idea of what they are doing.  Most of them have never run a business, obviously.  And, many of the well-to-do politicians have someone who takes care of their own finances, which I find to be completely foolish because there seem to be a lot of thieves out there these days from Madoff on down.

I just think we really need successful business people in office who have a clue about how to budget money.  These people obviously don't and they run our country like a lot of our citizens do by living on credit and that's just flat out stupid!

I guess I get really annoyed by this because if our citizens and our politicians were more fiscally responsible, we wouldn't be going through this financial situation right now.  I feel that if I can live within my means making $8.50 an hour, then the rest of the country should be able to do the same.  And, I'm having to pay for a lot of other people's selfishness.  And, I don't appreciate it!

Basically, I feel like a bunch of people need their proverbial butts kicked and to straighten up and quit living so carelessly and selfishly.
